Patriot League Women’s Soccer Players of the Week Announced (8.31.26)

Holy Cross and Navy split weekly accolades

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy collected three of the five Patriot League women’s soccer weekly awards, when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Holy Cross received the two remaining weekly accolades.

Holy Cross’ Abigail Cushing was tabbed as the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Forward of the Week after the senior scored and assisted on a first-half goal to lead the Crusaders to a 2-0 win at Marist, extending their win streak to three games.

Navy junior Kayana Adlam was selected as the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week after totaling three points in the Mids’ 2-0 victory over Maryland on Thursday. Adlam assisted on the opening goal before finding the back of the net in the 18th minute.

Crusaders’ senior Sofia Scalise earned Patriot League Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week honors after recording an assist in Holy Cross’ 2-0 win over Marist, helping them to their best start since 2014 (3-1-1).
Navy junior Natasha Stramrood was recognized as the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time in her career after totaling 10 saves, a 0.50 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and a 2-0 record.

Navy freshman Stella Jones lifted the Mids to a 2-0 win over Maryland after scoring the game-winning goal in the seventh minute to earn Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week honors.

Honorable mentions went to Army West Point junior forward Bella Conti, Boston University freshman midfielder Sam Ryan and senior forward Kate Slott, Holy Cross senior midfielder Adi Botet and junior Antriana Mila, Lafayette senior goalkeeper Catherine Apker and freshman defender Lily Mazella, Loyola Maryland senior goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer and freshman defender Geneve Pouliot, and Navy sophomore forward Jessica Black.

The Patriot League women’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Cushing scored her second goal of the season in the eighth minute and assisted on Adilin Botet’s goal in the 17th minute to help Holy Cross defeat Marist, 2-0, on Thursday.
*The senior guided the Crusaders to their third straight win to improve to 3-1-1, their best start to a season since 2014.
*The Sudbury, Mass. native is tied for fifth in the Patriot League in points (5) and goals (2).

Patriot League Women’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week

*Adlam played 110 minutes, tallying a goal and an assist to help Navy to a 3-0 week that featured victories over Marywood (4-0), Maryland (2-0) and Marist (3-1).
*The junior assisted on the game-winning goal in the seventh minute and scored her second goal of the season in the 18th minute to help Navy defeat the Terps for just the third time in 19 meetings.
*The Orlando, Fla. native played 55 minutes in the Mids’ 3-1 win over Marist.

Patriot League Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week
Sofia Scalise, Holy Cross, Sr., Defender, Southington, Conn./Southington
*Scalise assisted on Cushing’s opening goal in the eighth minute to help Holy Cross defeat Marist, 2-0.
*The senior helped the Crusaders record their second clean sheet in a row and improve to 3-1-1, their best start since 2014.

Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Natasha Stramrood, Navy, Jr. Goalkeeper, Cypress, Texas/Tomball
*Stramrood recorded 10 saves, a 0.50 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and a 2-0 record in Navy’s 3-0 week.
*The junior made six saves, including four in the second half to help the Mids’ knock off Maryland, 2-0.
*The Cyrpress, Texas native made four stops in Navy’s 3-1 win over Marist.
*Stramrood is tied for fifth in the Patriot League in saves per game (4.50) as well as seventh in goals-against average (1.72) and save percentage (.730).

Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

*Jones scored the game-winning goal in the 7th minute to lift Navy to a 2-0 victory over Maryland, the third-ever win over the Terps in 19 meetings.
