BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy garnered two of the three Patriot League women’s volleyball weekly awards, when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday. Army West Point received the remaining weekly award.
The Patriot League women’s volleyball players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
Farrah Eike, Navy, Jr., Outside Hitter, Parker, Colo./Valor Christian
*Eike totaled 35 kills on a .342 hitting percentage, 22 digs, two blocks and two service aces in Navy’s 2-0 weekend to open Patriot League action.
*The junior recorded 24 kills, hit .327, grabbed 13 digs and totaled two aces and two blocks in the Mids’ 3-2 win at Colgate.
*The Parker, Colo. Native added 11 kills, hitting .370, and nine digs in a sweep at Holy Cross.
*Eike leads the Patriot League in kills per set (3.72) and points per set (4.14).
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Amara Chambers, Navy, Jr., Libero, Hillsborough, N.C./Eno River Academy
*Chambers guided Navy to a 2-0 weekend after totaling 36 digs (4.50 per set), 10 assists and three service aces.
*The junior had 21 digs and eight assists in the Mids’ five-set win at Colgate before notching 15 digs and a pair of aces in a sweep of Holy Cross.
*The Hillsborough, N.C. native ranks fourth in the Patriot League in digs (170) and fifth in digs per set (3.97).
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Marlee Lightsey, Army West Point, Fr., Outside Hitter, New Braunfels, Texas/Canyon
*Lightsey finished Army West Point’s 1-1 weekend with 20 kills, 14 digs, two blocks, one ace and a .962 reception percentage.
*The freshman recorded her first career double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs in a four-set win over Loyola Maryland.
*The New Braunfels, Texas native collected her third straight Rookie of the Week award.
Honorable Mention
Salme Hollas, American, Sr., Outside Hitter, Tartu, Estonia/Hugo Treffneri Gümnaasium
*Hollas led American to a 2-0 weekend with 25 kills on a .286 hitting percentage, 14 digs, six service aces and five blocks.
*The senior hit .409 with 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks in the Eagles’ sweep of Army West Point on Saturday.
*The Estonia native is sixth in the Patriot League in points per set (3.38) and eighth in kills per set (2.74).
Bella Marrero, American, Jr., Libero, Burbank, Calif./Campbell Hall
*Marrero finished American’s 2-0 weekend with 38 digs (4.75 per set), eight assists, one service ace and zero reception errors.
*The junior had 26 digs in a five-set win at Holy Cross and 12 digs in a sweep of Army West Point.
*The Burbank, Calif. native is third in the Patriot League in digs (170) and fourth in digs per set (4.05).
Tiana Owens, Colgate, Jr., Outside Hitter, San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic
*Owens totaled 32 kills on a .299 hitting percentage, 11 digs, three blocks and one ace in Colgate’s 1-1 weekend.
*The junior produced 14 kills on a .333 hitting percentage in the Raiders’ sweep of Loyola Maryland.
Lacey Murphy, Holy Cross, Jr., Middle Blocker, Wenham, Mass./Bishop Fenwick
*Murphy hit .333 with 19 kills (1.93 per set), 20 total blocks (1.82 per set and two digs in Holy Cross’ 1-2 week.
*In a sweep of Stonehill on Tuesday, the junior recorded a career-high 12 blocks, four kills and one dig. Murphy’s 12 blocks are an NCAA Division I single-game three-set high.
*The Wenham, Mass. native is second in the Patriot League in blocks (56) and blocks per set (1.24).
Paighton Erb, Lehigh, First-Year, Middle Blocker, Columbus, Neb./Columbus
* Erb provided a strong offensive spark for Lehigh during its 2-0 Patriot League weekend, totaling 11 kills while hitting .500 across two sweeps.
*The first-year hit .400 with six kills against Bucknell before recording five kills on seven attacks without an error (.714) against Lafayette.
Alysia Fingall, Lehigh, Sr., Outside Hitter, Panama City, Fla./Mosley
* Fingall was instrumental in Lehigh’s 2-0 Patriot League weekend, totaling 20 kills, 10 digs, one service ace, three solo blocks and four block assists across two sweeps.
*The senior recorded nine kills, one solo block, three block assists and three digs against Bucknell before posting 11 kills, seven digs, one ace, two solo blocks and one block assist against Lafayette.
Avery Maddux, Navy, Fr., Middle Blocker, Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville
*Maddux led the Patriot League in blocks (15) and blocks per set (1.88) as Navy won a pair of Patriot League road matches.
*The freshman added seven kills on a .385 hitting percentage, three digs and a pair of aces.
*The Libertyville, Ill. native recorded four kills and nine blocks in a sweep of Holy Cross.
