Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (9.7.26)

Navy earns two weekly awards while Loyola Maryland, Colgate and Army West Point earn one

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Navy collected two Patriot League Men’s Soccer weekly honors, while Loyola Maryland, Colgate and Army West Point each received one.

Patriot League Men’s Soccer Forward of the Week
Nino Venezia, Loyola Maryland, Fr., F, Miami, Fla./Somerset Virtual
*Venezia scored the game-winning goal to lead Loyola Maryland to a 3-0 victory.
*The freshman increased his season total to two goals.
 
Patriot League Men’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week
Ryan Schachter, Colgate, So., M, Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde
*Schachter scored the game-tying goal in the 77th minute to help Colgate earn a 1-1 draw against Bryant.

Kelly Cooper, Army West Point, Sr., D, Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood Charter
*Cooper scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute to help Army West Point earn a draw against Stonehill.
*The senior played all 180 minutes across matches against Yale and Stonehill, helping anchor the Black Knights’ back line.

Patriot League Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Sam Clark, Navy, So., GK, Mill Valley, Calif./Tamiscal
*Clark posted back-to-back shutouts, helping Navy defeat Presbyterian, 3-0, before earning a scoreless draw against Temple.
*The sophomore made four saves across the two matches to record the first two clean sheets of his collegiate career.
*Clark extended his scoreless streak to 247:46 consecutive minutes in goal.

Patriot League Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week
Cohen Nance, Navy, Fr., F, Lakeland, Fla./McKeel Academy
*Nance scored Navy’s third goal in a 3-0 victory over Presbyterian, finding the net in the 82nd minute off an assist.
 
The Patriot League men’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Honorable Mentions
Jubril Bamgbala, Army West Point, Sr., F, North Providence, R.I./La Salle Academy
Bamgbala scored his second goal of the season and totaled 12 shots, including six on goal, across matches against Yale and Stonehill.

Lukas Cortes, Loyola Maryland, Fr., M, Weston, Fla./Somerset Virtual
Cortes recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in Loyola Maryland’s 3-0 victory while helping create multiple scoring opportunities.

Anthony Harper, Boston University, So., D, Tulsa, Okla./Riverfield Country Day School
Harper helped Boston University earn draws against Providence and New Hampshire, including a shutout against the Wildcats. 

Jeb Snead, Holy Cross, Sr., D, Midland, Mich./Herbert Henry Dow
Snead scored his first collegiate goal in a 1-1 draw at Iona while helping limit the Gaels to seven shots and two shots on goal. 

Alex Galloway, Navy, Sr., D, Longwood, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic
Galloway scored in Navy’s 3-0 victory over Presbyterian before playing all 90 minutes in a scoreless draw against Temple, helping the Mids post back-to-back shutouts.

Ben Alexander, Boston University, Sr., GK, Chilliwack, B.C./University Hill Secondary School
Alexander matched his career high with six saves against Providence before posting a shutout against New Hampshire, the sixth clean sheet of his career and second as a Terrier.

Felix Huebner, Loyola Maryland, Fr., GK, Asheville, N.C./Asheville City
Huebner made 12 saves and allowed just one goal across two matches, including a shutout in Loyola Maryland’s 3-0 victory over Mount St. Mary’s.

Ryan Ghajar, Boston University, Fr., M, Los Angeles, Calif./Calabasas High School
Ghajar scored his first collegiate goal in Boston University’s match at Providence, giving the Terriers a 1-0 lead in the 82nd minute.
