American University, in its second year with the Patriot League, still holds the lead in the 2002-03 Presidents' Cup Race, but Bucknell won three championships in six winter sports and cut the Eagles 12-point lead down to four points heading into the spring season.

Through the first 13 championships contested during the fall and winter seasons, American has compiled 70 points to lead the overall standings. The Eagles won four crowns in the fall season (men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and volleyball) and added four other top four finishes in the winter season (men's and women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, men's indoor track & field).

But the Bison are a hard-charging group, thanks to team titles in men's and women's swimming as well as women's indoor track & field. BU moved up from a fourth-place tie after the fall season to second place in the overall standings heading into the spring season with 66 points.

Lehigh was tied with BU for fourth place after the fall season, but has gained a slight edge over Army, 56-54, for third place in the overall standings. The Mountain Hawks used top three finishes in men's and women's swimming, along with strong efforts in men's and women's basketball, to stay within reach of winning the overall title.

Broken down by gender, American (30.00) is first in the men's standings ahead of Bucknell and Lehigh, which are tied for second with 27.5 points. On the women's side, AU has compiled 40.00 points to edge BU (38.75) for top honors.

Presidents' Cup points are awarded based on a team's performance in the regular-season and post-season PL standings. In cross country, football, golf, swimming & diving and track & field, the points are awarded on the final team standings. In team sports with post-season tournaments, such as basketball, field hockey, soccer and volleyball, points are awarded based on a combination of the League championship tournament and regular-season standings.
