Holy Cross Athletic Director Richard M. Regan, Jr. announced today that all Crusader athletic events through Sunday, September 16 have been cancelled.

"After discussing this very delicate issue with members of the Holy Cross community as well as with representatives of other colleges and universities, we have decided not to proceed with our athletic schedule," Regan said.

"Although there is no right answer as to whether or not to play in this situation, we have determined that this course of action is the best one for Holy Cross. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends of those affected by these tragedies."

The Holy Cross football team was slated to host Harvard on Saturday at Fitton Field. That cancellation marks the first time a Holy Cross football game has been cancelled since the college cancelled the 1969 season after two games due to a Hepatitis outbreak on campus.

While the football game is cancelled, other events may be rescheduled if possible at a later date.
