Fordham scored two touchdowns in the last six minutes of the game to pull into the win column with Holy Cross and Lafayette, moving all three into a tie for first place with Lehigh after the second full week of play in the 2002 Patriot League football season.

Fordham, which finished third in the League last season and was picked third in the PL pre-season poll, rallied to post a 40-31 victory over visiting Colgate in the opening League game for both teams.

The Rams (2-0, 1-0 PL) opened the season 2-0 for the first time since 1997 and, including the 2001 campaign, have a seven-game win streak for the first time since moving to Division I-AA in 1989.

Colgate (0-2, 0-1 PL) has finished either first or second in the League in each of the last six seasons, but fall to Fordham for the first time since since 1995.

Holy Cross and Lafayette each used strong second halves to pull away for easy victories.

The Crusaders (2-0, 1-0 PL) opened the season with two wins for the third-straight year with a 41-13 decision at Georgetown (0-2, 0-2 PL). Jr. RB Bill Pragalz scored a pair of TDs to lead HC. Georgetown is winless in eight PL games since joining the League prior to the 2001 campaign.

For the first time since 1993, Lafayette (2-0, 1-0) opened the season with two wins by pulling away from Towson in the second half for a 23-7 victory. LC's defense forced four turnovers and held an opponent to just one TD for the first time since late in the 1999 season (vs. Fordham).

Bucknell (0-2, 0-0 PL) played the only other game of the weekend, losing a non-League double overtime contest at St. Mary's (Calif.), 23-22. It's the first time the Bison have lost their first two games of the season since the 1991 campaign.

BU rallied from a 9-0 first-half deficit with three FGs to tie the score at halftime. The host Gaels scored a TD in the third quarter, but the Bison forced OT with an eight-yard run to paydirt by Fr. RB Blamah Sarnor.

In the first overtime, Bucknell missed a 37-yard field goal after stopping the Gaels on a fourth-and-20 on their possession. In the second OT, BU took the lead on a 27-yard pass from Sr. QB Todd Wenrich to Jr. WR Albert Marquardt, but then missed the PAT kick. St. Mary's answered on their second OT possession with a seven-yard TD run and a successful PAT.

Lehigh (2-0, 1-0 PL) had the week off.
