Holy Cross junior Kevin Baker and Navy sophomore Kim Bonafede are the No. 1 goalkeepers in NCAA Division I soccer this season, and both have led their respective teams to the No. 1 position in the team defensive rankings in this week's NCAA national statistics.

Through Sept. 22, Baker has compiled a 0.19 goals against average (GAA) to lead the Crusaders to a 5-0-1 record, including a 1-0 mark in the Patriot League. Holy Cross, the defending League regular-season champions, also lead the country in the team goals against average category (0.19).

Including Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Northeastern, HC has allowed just two goals in seven matches this season and recorded five shutouts. The Crusaders rank fifth in the Sept. 23 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) New England regional rankings.

Just behind Baker in the individual category is Bucknell Fr. Adam Edwards, who ranks third nationally with a 0.42 goals against average. He has allowed just three goals in seven matches this season, helping the Bison to rank fifth in the team GAA category and compile a 5-1-1 overall record (1-1-0 in the PL). The Bison are tied for third with Seton Hall in this week's NSCAA Middle Atlantic regional rankings.

On the women's side, Bonafede has allowed just one goal in eight matches for a 0.14 goals against average. With four shutouts on the ledger, Bonafede leads all NCAA Division I goalkeepers individually in GAA, and has helped the 7-0-1 Midshipmen to the top spot in team goals against average. Navy is seventh in the Sept. 23 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic regional rankings.

Also in the top 10 in the individual goals against average category is Army Fr. Morgan Bennett, who has a 0.40 GAA in six matches for the Black Knights. Bennett, who has three shutouts and led the Academy to a tournament title at Stony Brook this past weekend, has led Army (6-1-1) to 10th place in the team GAA national statistical rankings. In the NSCAA New England Region, Army is ranked seventh this week.
