Megan Ahrens joined the Patriot League staff as the administrative intern for the 2003-04 academic year, working primarily with the compliance programs and sport governance for the League. She will also contribute to the management of the League's 22 sport championships.

"Megan comes to the Patriot League with a strong education and sport background," said Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich. "In her role as an administrative intern, she will gain significant experience in a variety of athletic administration areas. She will assist with the management of League operations, including working with coaching groups and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council."

A native of Camp Hill, Pa., Ahrens received a bachelor's degree in English Literature and German Language from Messiah College in 1999, where she was an all-star defender for the Falcons' nationally-ranked women's soccer program. As an undergrad, Ahrens worked in Messiah's admissions and sports information offices. She was also awarded three academic scholarships and was named to the Messiah College Dean's List four times.

She recently earned a master's degree in Sport Studies, with an emphasis on athletic administration, from the University of Iowa. While at Iowa, Ahrens was a teaching assistant in the Physical Education Skills department, served as a research assistant to Athletics Director Emerita Christine Grant and as a graduate assistant for event management in the Athletics Department.

Prior to her two-year term at Iowa, Ahrens worked for Merrill Lynch Credit Corp. in Jacksonville, Fla., in the admissions office at the University of North Florida and as an intern at the Sports Information office at Jacksonville (Fla.) University. Ahrens has also performed volunteer duties for the Jacksonville Special Olympics, the Jacksonville Zoo, Habitat for Humanity and has served as a soccer coach for several youth teams.
