Mikajah Hayes joined the Patriot League staff as the administrative intern in August 2022 and was promoted to Associate Director for Championships and Business Operations in October 2022.
Hayes graduated from Boston University in May 2022 after spending five years competing for the Terrier women’s track and field team.
In her role, Hayes will be responsible for assisting with the planning and administration of League championships. She will also maintain and monitor day-to-day office operations, assist with the management of daily business and financial operations, provide support and general administrative assistance. She will also assist with the League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
At Boston University, Hayes contributed to the athletic department on and off the track. In 2018, she was a member of the winning 4x200m relay in the Eastern Section at the Penn Relays. This relay still holds the 4x200m record at Boston University. She was also named a team captain for her junior year at Boston University.
Within the athletic department, Hayes was a student representative on the Boston University Social Justice & Inclusion Committee, whose goal was to implement policies and practices that create a safer and more diverse environment for Terriers’ student-athletes. She also served on the executive board for the department’s Student-Athletes of Color (SAOC) group, which fosters an open environment for student-athletes to discuss topics from social justice to mental health.
In addition to her on-campus work, Hayes was a co-founder of the Patriot League SAOC Leadership Council and a Boston University representative on the League’s Anti-Racism Commission. The SAOC Leadership Council focused on bringing together minority student-athlete leaders to share ideas and practices that aid in their goals to create equitable campus spaces. The Patriot League Anti-Racism Commission focused on the creation and implementation of policies that promote equity across the entire league.
An Ashburn, Va. native, Hayes graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2021. She received her Master of Science in Applied Business Analytics from the same institution in 2022.
