Three Leopards Earn Recognition from Patriot League

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior Missy Farrand and juniors Jenna Bratz and Amanda Eggleston have been honored with placement on the Patriot League Field Hockey Second Team.

Farrand (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) led Lafayette with 14 points on five goals and four assists. She scored two goals and assisted on the third in the Leopards' 3-0 win at Georgetown, and had three matches with two goals in her career.

The senior forward recorded 20 career goals and scored seven game-winners, including both goals in Lafayette's 2-1 overtime victory against No. 4 ranked Penn State in 2003 when she earned the PL Offensive Player of the Week. She was selected as the PL Rookie of the Week in 2001 for scoring the game-winning goal in overtime vs. Delaware.

Farrand is an Electrical and Computer Engineering major and has been a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Bratz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) followed her sophomore performance of two goals and an assist with identical numbers in 2004. She started all 18 matches and was a solid performer both offensively and defensively for the Leopards.

The junior midfielder scored the only goal of the match as Lafayette defeated Bucknell, 2-1, in Patriot League action this year, and also netted a goal in the first match of the season as the Leopards beat Virginia Commonwealth 3-2.

Bratz is a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll where she ranked first with a 4.0 grade point average in Mathematics. She has also been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division I National Academic Squad.

Eggleston (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) scored four goals and was in on two assists this season. Three of her four goals came off penalty corners as she led Lafayette with 48 shots.

The junior midfielder netted her first career goal in the first half to create a 1-1 tie at Cornell, a match that the Leopards won 2-1. Eggleston, a Civil Engineering major, scored the Leopards' lone goal in 2-1 losses at Rutgers and vs. Lock Haven to close the season.

Lafayette missed the Patriot League field hockey tournament for the first time in six seasons, but will return eight starters next season. Junior Kasey Gallagher (one goal, five assists), sophomore Maggie DeFilippo (two goals, three assists) and freshman Virginia Satterthwaite (two goals, two assists) will team with Bratz and Eggleston to give the Leopards veterans in the midfield and at forward.
