Deb Bogert, the Patriot League's longtime Executive Assistant and Business Manager, has decided to retire from her position effective Sept. 30, 2005. Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich made the announcement on Wednesday.
Bogert served the Patriot League in various fashions over its 16-year history, which began for her on September of 1989 when she was hired as Administrative Coordinator. She was then promoted to Business Manager during the 1992-93 academic year. After serving in that capacity for five years she was promoted to Executive Assistant and Business Manager.
"Deb's contributions to the League are too numerous to mention, but it is certain the League office will not be the same without her," said Femovich. "We thank Deb for everything she has done and wish her a very happy and healthful retirement. We want her to know she will be deeply missed not only by the League staff but also by membership as well."
During her time with the Patriot League, Bogert directed business and human resource affairs, maintained the League's financial records and coordinated office functions. Outside of the League, she was a 12-year member of the Bethlehem Chapter of the American Business Women's Association where she served as President and Secretary and was named the organization's Woman of the Year in 1996.
Bogert's retirement will not only affect the League office but also its membership. When asked about her departure Lehigh Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett stated, " Deb Bogert has been a deeply valued and highly respected member of the Patriot League office for almost as long as the League has existed. Her professionalism, effectiveness, and service have been distinctive and she has provided a valuable link to the League's history for the membership and the staff. She will be sorely missed."
Prior to her arrival at the Patriot League, Bogert worked as a secretary and receptionist at PSC Engineers and Consultants, Inc., and worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 11 years as an administrative assistant.
