Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich announced Monday the hiring of Rich Schepis as Media Relations Director. Schepis will begin his duties at the League office on Jan. 9.

"We are very pleased that Rich will be joining the Patriot League office staff", Femovich said. "His previous experience working in media relations at a Division I institution with a strong academic background, and his understanding of I-AA football will be an asset for the League. I look forward to the many contributions he will bring to the League."

Schepis will oversee the media relations efforts of the League and serve as the primary contact for football, men's basketball and various other sports.

"I look forward to joining the Patriot League. I am excited about the limitless possibilities the position holds and the opportunity to jump into the rich athletic traditions of its member schools," said Schepis. "I believe we have only seen the tip of the iceberg of what the Patriot League has to offer. I am eager to begin my new position and cannot wait to introduce its student-athletes to the world."

Schepis joins the League office after spending five years at Penn, serving as both the Associate Director of Athletic Communications and most recently as the Director of Football Operations. As the Director of Football Operations he assisted in the creation and review of budgets, managed travel arrangements, official recruiting visits and football camps.

Before his role in the football office at Penn, he worked in media relations, where he was the primary contact for many high-profile teams. He produced media guides, game programs, press releases, as well as printed material for institutional use, as well as maintained the Quakers official website. He also played a key role in placing feature stories about Penn athletics in national outlets such as USA Today, the New York Times and ESPN CollegeDay.

Prior to his time at Penn, Schepis worked in media relations at Bryn Mawr, Gwynedd-Mercy and his alma mater Cabrini. Schepis graduated Cabrini in 1997 with a degree in English/Communication and a certificate in graphic design.

Schepis served as a staff writer for The Suburban and Wayne Times from 1998-2000.
