Thirteen Patriot League Soccer Student-Athletes Named to NSCAA All-Region Teams

Center Valley, Pa. - Thirteen Patriot League men's and women's soccer student-athletes were named to their respective National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Teams, the organization announced Tuesday.

On the women's side, Bucknell forward Jennifer Dervarics and Navy defender Shelly Moeller were named Second-Team Mid-Atlantic Region honorees. Dervarics is the 2008 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and led the League in goals and points, while Moeller is the 2008 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Moeller helped anchor a Navy defense that went 5-0-2 in Patriot League play this season.

For the men, Holy Cross defender Jerry Dickinson and Colgate forward Alex Weekes were designated First-Team Mid-Atlantic Region members. Dickinson is the 2008 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, while Weekes is a Second-Team All-League pick who scored both goals in Colgate's 2-1 victory over Holy Cross to win their second-straight Patriot League title.

Six Patriot League student-athletes were awarded Second-Team Mid-Atlantic Region honorees. Colgate's David Cappuccio is the Second-Team goalkeeper, and is the 2008 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year. First-Team All-League defenders Alejandro Melean of Holy Cross and Glenn Volk of Colgate are also on the team. First-Team All-League midfielder Adam Gazda from Lehigh, 2008 Offensive Player of the Year Conor O'Brien of Bucknell and Lafayette forward B.J. Glenn round out the Patriot League representatives on the Second Team.

American's Cooper Bryant, Lehigh's Jim Taranto and Colgate's Chris Ross are all Third-Team Mid-Atlantic Region selections. Bryant, Taranto and Ross are all First-Team All-Patriot League selections as well.
