Five Patriot League Student-Athletes Recognized by ECAC

Five Patriot League student-athletes, across three different sports, were named ECAC Players of the Week, it was announced Wednesday evening by the ECAC. The awards were the first handed out during the 2008 spring sports season. Army's Cole White was named Division I Baseball Player of the Week, while Bucknell's Alison Ford was the Division I Softball Player of the Week. The Lafayette duo of Janica Austin and Ashley Harbin earned Division I Female Track Athlete of the Week and Division I Female Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. Navy senior Paul Harris rounded out the awards as the Division I Male Track Athlete of the Week.

White recorded a .687 batting average and a .727 on-base percentage in a 3-1 week for the Black Knights. The senior had a grand slam, seven RBI, and 10 runs scored during the week. White added three doubles, a triple and three stolen bases to his impressive stat line.

Ford batted .800 on the week, during a sweep of Coppin State. She had three hits and four RBI in game one, and followed it up with two RBI hit in game two. The freshman scored three of Bucknell's 37 runs on the day.

Austin finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.09) at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. The freshman's time broke a 24-year old school record and also qualifies her for the ECAC Championships in May.

Harbin finished as the top collegiate finisher and second overall in the hammer throw (59.36m) at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. The senior's throw qualifies her for both the ECAC Championships and the NCAA East Regional Meet in May.

Harris helped lead his team to a first-place finish at the Navy Invitational this past weekend, winning the 800-meter event. His time of 1:51.83 was qualifies him for the IC4A meet.
