WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman first baseman Eric Oxford (Danvers, Mass.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 21-27. Last week, Oxford hit .350 with nine runs batted in, as the Holy Cross baseball team posted a 2-4 record over six games.
During a doubleheader split with Brown on Wednesday, Oxford went two-for-four with a double and four runs batted in. He then went five-for-16 during the four-game weekend series at Navy, with two doubles, two runs scored and five runs batted in. Oxford's biggest game came during the 11-5 victory over the Midshipmen on Sunday, when he had three hits and drove in three runs.
On the season, Oxford now leads the team with a .326 batting average. He has also totaled 24 runs batted in, 15 runs scored and 12 doubles this year.
The Crusaders, who stand 20-25 overall and 11-9 in the Patriot League, return to action on Tuesday, April 29, when they travel to Rhode Island for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
