CRCA 2008 Scholar Athletes
Sixteen Patriot League rowing student-athletes were named 2008 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar-Athletes. Bucknell and Navy each had six honorees and Colgate had four.
To be eligible for the award, rowers must be of at least sophomore standing in the classroom, maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and compete in at least 75-percent of the team's races during the spring season.
For Bucknell, both Sophie Bird and Jennie Trayes were being recognized as CRCA Scholar-Athletes for the second year in a row, while Devon Mitchell, Meghan O'Reilly, Elizabeth Regan and Mary Wilson were first-time honorees.
Fiona McFarland is a three-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete for Navy, while Kerry Hannon, Catherine Ortman, Sarah Roberts and Megan Selbach-Allen were honored for the second season in a row. Kelsey Cellon was named to the list for the first time in her career.
Colgate's Meredith Remmer and Sarah Kruse made it on the list for the second-straight year. Additionally, Remmer was tabbed the 2008 Patriot League Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Meredith Buerger and Allison Patchen are first-time selections for the Raiders.
Since the Patriot League began sponsoring rowing during the 2005 spring season it has had 39 CRCA Scholar-Athlete mentions, including 17 last year.
