What's New with Patriot League Social Media This Week

Oct. 17, 2009

Center Valley, Pa. - Each of the fall sports has moved into the Patriot League portion of the schedule, and the League has continued to use its social media outlets to highlight the races for the 2009 Championships and more news and notes.

The Patriot League is using three social media outlets to bring more information to its followers and interact in an informal setting. Take a look at the latest posts and topics at the League's social media sites: The Gameday Blog, Twitter and Facebook pages.

The Patriot League Gameday Blog has provided extended coverage of the League's sports throughout the fall, and that was no different this week. The blog includes the usual weekend football preview as well as write-ups for big matches in field hockey and volleyball. It also included a post on the men's basketball schedule. Upcoming coverage will feature the weekly look at the football action on Saturday as well as additional previews and news and notes as we head towards the 2009 Patriot League Fall Championships.

The Patriot League Twitter page includes 140-character posts that feature links to most articles posted on the League website as well as additional information only available to Twitter followers. Exclusive content on the Twitter page this week has included the first announcement of fall weekly awards in soccer and the release of updated Patriot League and NCAA football statistics as well as the new FCS top 25 rankings. News that only showed up on the Twitter page included links to the Liberty Mutual FCS Coach of the Year voting and Navy's Chris Harris ranking No. 21 in the list of the top shooters in the country by Fox Sports' Jeff Goodman. The Twitter page also serves as the place for score updates from the Patriot League, including Saturday's football action.

The Patriot League Facebook page has included recaps and previews for the football weekend, and a post on the men's basketball schedule. The Facebook format also provides all of the Patriot League's fans with a chance to comment on the posts or open up discussions on any topic of interest in the League. The page also includes videos and photos, with more of each to come in the near future from action around the Patriot League, as well as upcoming events in the League. Fans have the option to post their own photos and videos to the page as well.
