Patriot League Championship Season Gets Underway This Weekend

Center Valley, Pa.--The 2009-10 Patriot League championship season will officially get underway this weekend. The first of 17 championship events will be the 2009 Patriot League Cross Country Championship, hosted by Colgate at the Harry H. Lang Cross Country Course on Saturday. For the entire list of championships, click on the championships tab on the front page of the Patriot League website.

Two more championships will be held the following weekend, with field hockey and women's soccer both starting on Friday, Nov. 6. The men's soccer championship will be held Nov. 13-15, while the volleyball championship will be contested Nov. 20-21. Field hockey, women's soccer, men's soccer and volleyball will all be played at the site of the highest seed.


Winter championships will commence in February, starting on Thursday, Feb. 18 with swimming and diving at Navy. Indoor track and field will begin the same weekend at Army, beginning on Friday, Feb. 19. Men's basketball will be played at host sites March 3-12. Holy Cross will host the women's basketball quarterfinals and semifinals March 6-7, with the championship played at the site of the highest remaining seed on March 13.


The spring championship season will start April 16 in Hamilton, N.Y., as Colgate will host the women's tennis championship. The following weekend, men's tennis will be played at Bucknell, and Colgate will host the golf championship. Championship events for men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and outdoor track and field will begin on April 30. Both lacrosse championships will be played at the site of the highest seed, while Army will host the track and field championships. The softball tournament will played at the highest seed May 13-15. Baseball will conduct its tournament on back-to-back weekends, starting May 15.
