Center Valley, Pa. - Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich announced a pair of staff changes on Wednesday, as Patrick Muffley has been promoted to Assistant Executive Director for Sport Management and Governance and James Greene was hired as the Media and External Relations Assistant.
Muffley joined the Patriot League office staff in August 2007, and was promoted to Associate Director for Sport Management and Compliance in January 2009. He has worked with sport groups and administrative committees, directed the Patriot League compliance and national letter of intent operation, and served as the liaison to the officials' assignors
In his new role as Assistant Executive Director, Muffley will oversee and provide leadership for both sports management and League governance as well as the League's compliance program.
"Patrick has demonstrated a strong grasp of the issues in sports management and League governance and managed his responsibilities very effectively over the past two and a half years," Femovich said. "He stepped up and assumed additional responsibilities when needed and has displayed exceptional work and professionalism in his position."
Muffley replaces Joanna Kreps, who will depart her position as Associate Executive Director for Sports Management and Governance/Senior Woman Administrator at the end of the month after more than five years with the Patriot League. Kreps plans to wed in February.
"Joanna has been a valued and significant senior member of our staff for more than five years," Femovich said. "She has a strong commitment to the ideals of the League and we thank her for her many contributions to the work of the membership. We all wish Joanna much happiness as she begins this new chapter of her life."
Greene recently started his tenure as the Patriot League Media and External Relations assistant. A 2001 graduate of Holy Cross, Greene interned in the Crusaders' athletic media relations office during the fall semester. While in Worcester, he acted as the assistant media contact for eight teams, updated the athletic department website, and helped in the creation and publication of sport-specific media guides.
Previously, Greene worked as a game day communications and media assistant for the Boston Bruins and in television for Mugs Media in Sparta, New Jersey and radio for Clear Channel Broadcasting in Franklin, N.J. Greene served roles as a play-by-play and color commentator and performed on-air newscasts. In addition to his Bachelor of Arts in History from Holy Cross, Greene received a Master's in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University last month.
"I am very pleased to welcome James to the Patriot League staff," Femovich said. "He will play an integral role in our new media initiatives as well as our entire media and external relations effort and administration of League championships."
She added, "As a student and intern at Holy Cross, James developed a strong understanding and commitment to the core values of the Patriot League and its institutions."
