Louisville Slugger Preseason All-Americans

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell baseball senior first baseman Doug Shribman (Marblehead, Mass./Belmont Hill School) put together an outstanding postseason last spring and even more is expected of him in 2011. On Friday he was named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Third Team by Collegiate Baseball News. He was one of just two Patriot League players to be recognized, along with Army's Kevin McKague.

A First Team All-Patriot League selection and the Patriot League Tournament MVP in 2010, Shribman hit .359 with 21 home runs and 62 runs batted in as a junior. He especially exploded in the Patriot League Tournament when he hit a record seven home runs and drove in 16 runs in just six games as he helped guide the Bison to their fifth league title in a 15-year span.

A two-time All-Patriot League player, Shribman's 21 home runs last year were seven more than the previous Bucknell record. He enters 2011 just three home runs shy of former teammate Andrew Brouse's school record (30). Shribman's 104 career RBIs place him within reach of that record (157) as well.

Bucknell's single-season record-holder for total bases (160), Shribman is also an adept fielder at first base. He committed just five errors in 519 chances last year for a strong fielding percentage of .990.

Shribman and his Bison teammates are just over two months from the start of their 2011 campaign, which commences Feb. 18 at James Madison. Bucknell's first home contest is March 23 against Mount St. Mary's.
