Center Valley, Pa. - Nearly every Patriot League team scored well above the national average in Academic Progress Rate scores, with more than 50 squads from League schools hitting a perfect multi-year mark in data released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The Patriot League once again landed as one of the top conferences in the nation in APR data. More than 98 percent of Patriot League teams scored above the national multi-year Division I APR average of 967, and more than 60 percent of those squads came in at 990 or higher.
Multiple teams compiled perfect APR scores, with 49 League squads and 56 teams from full-member Patriot League schools achieving a mark of 1,000. Bucknell had 13 of its teams hit the mark, followed by Lehigh with 12 and Colgate and Holy Cross with nine apiece.
The Mountain Hawks had the most Patriot League teams finishing with a perfect score, as 11 of their League squads hit the 1,000 mark. Lehigh was followed by Bucknell with 10, nine for Colgate and eight for Holy Cross. A full list of teams that achieved perfect APR scores is included below.
The full APR data follows the release of the NCAA Public Recognition Awards that came out last month, where 82 Patriot League teams and 90 overall squads from full-member League institutions were honored.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 academic years.
