Patriot League Announces Hiring of Jimmy Johnson

Center Valley, Pa. -- Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich announced Wednesday the hiring of Jimmy Johnson as the Patriot League Coordinator of Multimedia Services/Media Relations.

"I am very excited to welcome Jimmy back to the Patriot League office," Femovich said. "He demonstrated a strong work ethic and creative mind during his time as the League's Media Relations Assistant in the fall and will use those skills to take our new media production to another level."

Johnson comes to the Patriot League after serving as the Reading Royals beat writer for the Reading Eagle, a daily newspaper in Reading, Pa. He also covered college and prep sports for the Reading Eagle from 2007-10.

Prior to joining the Reading Eagle full-time in November 2009, Johnson served as the graduate assistant in sports information at Kutztown University from 2007-09 and the Patriot League's intern in the fall of 2009.

While at Kutztown, he attained his masters in electronic media producing a weekly video Webcast for the athletic department. He served as the interim sports information director for four months before graduating.

Johnson also has worked for the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, The Pitt News and the Lewistown Sentinel. He was the University of Pittsburgh football and basketball beat writer in 2004-05 and the Penn State football beat writer from 2005-2007. He also has written pieces for Street and Smith's and Sports Illustrated On Campus.

A native of Reading, Pa., Johnson also has a bachelor's degree in media relations and criminal justice from the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Gina, reside in Macungie, Pa.
