Two Patriot League Administrators Named to NCAA Committees

Feb. 23, 2011

Center Valley, Pa. - Colgate University Director of Athletics David Roach and Patriot League Associate Executive Director for External Relations Richard Wanninger have each been appointed to NCAA committees, with their terms starting on Sept. 1, 2011.

Roach will serve on the Division I Football Championship Committee and Football Issues Committee. Roach takes over the Patriot League position held by Lafayette Athletic Director Dr. Bruce McCutcheon, who completed his three-year term.

"I look forward to representing the Patriot League and Colgate on this NCAA committee," stated Roach. "It will be an honor and privilege to be part of the NCAA Division I playoffs and to work with such a great group of athletic administrators."

The NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee and Football Issues Committee will be charged with evaluating programs, participating in numerous regional and national conference calls, assisting other committee members with the selection of teams to the playoffs and the creation of the annual NCAA FCS Playoff bracket.

In addition to these two committees, Roach currently serves as president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and on the board of directors of the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA).

Wanninger, in his sixth season with the Patriot League, goes on the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee. The NCAA awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.

In addition to his work at the Patriot League, Wanninger completed a two-year term as the president of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in December. He is also a member of the Sports Video Groups (SVG) College Sports Video Summit Advisory Committee.
