CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Patriot League announced its weekly awards for Aug. 27-Sept. 2 in men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, field hockey and cross country.

All eight teams have opened the season in men’s soccer. Lafayette picked up its first victory of the season last week, and play resumes Tuesday with Lehigh searching for its first win of 2012 at St. Peter’s. Non-League action continues with 11 matches this weekend.

Navy remains the hottest squad in women’s soccer, as the Mids won three times last week to extend their streak to five straight victories. Five of the eight teams own records of .500 or better after last week’s play, which included a pair of Bucknell wins and a 1-0-1 showing for Colgate at the Princeton Invitational.

Lafayette volleyball jumped out to its best start in program history, earning four wins last week to improve to 5-0. The Leopards will seek to continue their torrid start Tuesday evening at Rutgers. Bucknell had a strong showing over the weekend at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational, while American, Army and Navy also earned wins last week.

Lafayette, Bucknell and Colgate all picked up wins in field hockey last week, with the Leopards and Bison now each sitting at 2-1 on the young season. All three schools had at least one student-athlete honored with a Patriot League weekly award on Tuesday.

The first weekend of cross country is in the books, with a flurry of individual titles that included American’s John Pope and Navy’s Annie-Norah Beveridge winning their respective races at Colgate’s Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday. The race included five Patriot League teams and was competed on the course of the 2012 Patriot League Cross Country Championships.


PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S SOCCER WEEKLY AWARDS

BRINE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
COLIN SEIGFREID, AMERICAN Jr., F, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Seigfreid netted a career-high two goals as American blanked Howard 7-0 Thursday on the first day of the D.C. College Cup. He tallied an assist in Saturday’s 2-1 overtime loss to George Mason, giving him five points for the week. Seigfreid was named to the All-Tournament Team.

BRINE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CRISTOBAL SOTO, AMERICAN Jr., D, Santiago, Chile
Soto, a preseason All-League selection, anchored the Eagles’ defense during a 1-1 showing at the D.C. College Cup. American’s stifling defense allowed just three shots on goal in Thursday’s 7-0 win over Howard, with all coming late in the match once the outcome was thoroughly in hand. Soto’s second career goal accounted for American’s scoring in Saturday’s 2-1 double-overtime loss to George Mason.

BRINE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
WINSTON BOLDT, ARMY So., GK, St. Louis, Mo.
Boldt picked up another shutout, making a pair of saves in the Black Knights’ 3-0 blanking of Iona on Friday evening. It’s his second clean sheet of the year and third of his career. Boldt went 1-1-0 for the week with a 1.00 goals-against average.

BRINE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DEREK VOGEL, NAVY Fr., D, Long Beach, Calif.
Vogel and the Navy defense made crucial adjustments in the Mids’ 2-0 win over Robert Morris. After allowing seven shots in the first 15 minutes, the back line surrendered just four the rest of the match to help preserve the Navy win. Vogel began the match at midfield and played the final 75 minutes on defense, coinciding with the change in the Mids’ defensive success.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
JOSH KOEPPE, ARMY Sr., M, Plano, Texas
Koeppe logged three points on a goal and an assist in Army’s 3-0 victory over Iona on Friday night.

JOE MEYER, BUCKNELL Jr., M, Sykesville, Md.
Trailing 1-0, Meyer scored with just 6:24 remaining in regulation to force overtime in Bucknell’s eventual 2-1 double-overtime loss at Florida Gulf Coast. The Bison were playing most of the match with 10 on the field after a red card in the fourth minute.

ALEC GOLINI, LAFAYETTE Jr., M, Lumberton, N.J.
Golini scored a goal in each of the Leopards’ two matches last week, a 3-2 win over Penn and a 3-1 loss to Quinnipiac.

ALEX WILSON, NAVY Jr., F, Phoenix, Ariz.
Wilson tallied the eventual game-winning goal as his marker in the 21st minute stood up in the Mids’ 2-0 win over Robert Morris.


PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S SOCCER WEEKLY AWARDS

BRINE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ASHLYNN SOELLNER, NAVY Jr., F, Hollidaysburg, Pa.
Soellner registered nine points on four goals and one assist during the Mids’ 3-0 week. She scored in each contest, and accounted for the game-winners in a 3-2 victory against George Mason and a 5-3 triumph over North Florida. Her decisive strike against the Patriots came in the 90th minute, and she had a career-high five points in the win over North Florida. She has 12 points on the season, already matching her total from a year ago.

BRINE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JADE SEABROOK, NAVY So., D, St. Paris, Ohio
Seabrook played all but three minutes of three Navy victories last week, and contributed a goal in the Mids’ 5-3 win Sunday over North Florida. The sophomore played a key role on the Navy back line, helping the Mids extend their win streak to five.

BRINE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
SANDITA McDERMOTT, BUCKNELL Sr., GK, Rhinebeck, N.Y.
McDermott picked up a pair of shutouts last week, a 1-0 decision Friday against Buffalo followed by a 3-0 clean sheet Sunday at St. Bonaventure. She made a season-high six saves against the Bonnies, and also had a tough stop late in Friday’s win while the Bison were clinging to their 1-0 lead.

BRINE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CATHERINE WILLIAMS, COLGATE Fr., F, Buffalo, N.Y.
Williams scored a pair of goals during Colgate’s second-half rally as the Raiders eliminated a 4-1 second-half deficit to draw 4-4 at Princeton Sunday afternoon. She scored back-to-back markers to bring the Raiders within 4-3. Her first goal was a rebound off her own opportunity, while her second was a header off a free kick.

COURTNEY NELSON, BUCKNELL So., M, Phoenix, Ariz.
Nelson scored in both Bison victories last week, picking up the game-winner in Friday’s 1-0 win over Buffalo and added another marker in Sunday’s 3-0 victory versus St. Bonaventure.

LAUREN DANDIE, BUCKNELL Fr., D, Fullerton, Calif.
Dandie played all 180 minutes at center back, anchoring the Bucknell defensive effort last week in a pair of victories. The Bison allowed five shots and just one on frame in Friday’s win over Buffalo.

JENNA RAEPPLE, COLGATE So., F, Buffalo, N.Y.
Raepple picked up five points on the week, and logged a goal and two assists in the Raiders’ 3-2 win over Hofstra Friday at the Princeton Invitational.

JILL DOZIER, LAFAYETTE Sr., F, Fallston, Md.
Dozier scored twice in the second half to propel Lafayette to its 3-0 shutout of St. Peter’s on Sunday.


PATRIOT LEAGUE VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

MOLTEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SARAH FROHNAPFEL, LAFAYETTE Sr., S, Stafford, Va.
Frohnapfel was instrumental for the Leopards last week, helping them jump out to their best start in program history at 5-0. After collecting 34 assists in a five-set win at St. Francis (N.Y.), she tallied 102 assists in three weekend contests at the Lafayette College Volleyball Tournament, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She averaged 7.56 assists per set for the week.

MOLTEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
KAREN CAMPBELL, BUCKNELL Fr., MB, Chesapeake, Va.
Campbell was named to the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Bison in blocks and finishing third on the team in kills during the weekend. She led Bucknell with a career-high 10 blocks in Friday’s 3-1 win over Robert Morris, and added nine kills with just one error in Saturday’s four-set triumph against Loyola (Md.). She finished the weekend hitting .311 with 13 blocks.

ALLISON CAPPELLINO, AMERICAN Fr., L, Penfield, N.Y.
Cappellino averaged 3.00 digs per set at the Yale Classic, picking up 10 in a win over Stony Brook and 11 against Texas A&M.

ARIANA MANKUS, ARMY Sr., OH, Lisle, Ill.
Mankus made the All-Tournament Team at the TCU Nike Invitational after leading the Black Knights to a second-place finish. She scored 20 kills and 25 digs in a four-set loss to the host Horned Frogs.

JESSICA SERRATO, BUCKNELL Jr., OH, Millbrae, Calif.
Serrato hit .237 and averaged 3.82 kills and 3.09 digs per set as the Bison finished 2-1 at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. She logged a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs against the Dukes.

BRIANNE GIANGIOBBE, LAFAYETTE Fr., OH, Bethlehem, Pa.
Giangiobbe scored a career-high 12 kills and hit .296 in Lafayette’s four-set win over St. Peter’s.


PATRIOT LEAGUE FIELD HOCKEY WEEKLY AWARDS

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
HALLE BIGGAR, COLGATE Jr., A, Pepper Pike, Ohio
Biggar had the top offensive performance for a Patriot League player this season, scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 5-1 triumph over Siena on Thursday. The five points marked a career high while the two goals matched a career best that was set in her first collegiate game in 2010 against Ball State. Biggar scored the first and fourth goals for the Raiders. Biggar is named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the first time.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JENNA SEYBERT, LAFAYETTE So., D, Lansdale, Pa.
Seybert helped Lafayette to a solid weekend that included a 2-1 win at James Madison on Saturday and a 3-2 loss at No. 9 Penn State on Sunday. She assisted on the game-winning goal with just over five minutes to play against the Dukes as Lafayette rallied from a halftime deficit. Seybert recorded two defensive saves in the second half against Penn State, helping the Leopards keep the Nittany Lions off 
the scoreboard after intermission. Seybert earns her first Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honor.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
JESSICA DEUTSCH, LAFAYETTE So., GK, Fairfield, Conn.
Deutsch came up big to keep Lafayette in the game against No. 9 Penn State, making nine saves as the Leopards fell to the Nittany Lions by a narrow 3-2 margin. She stopped four shots in the first half, and made five saves in the second half as Lafayette held Penn State scoreless after intermission. Deutsch also made a save against James Madison and had several key plays to prevent shooting opportunities as the Leopards scored a pair of second-half goals to rally for a 2-1 win. Deutsch is named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
KIERSTEN SYDNOR, BUCKNELL Fr., F, Shippensburg, Pa.
Sydnor earns her second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor to start her career, as she tallied the final goal in Bucknell’s 3-1 win over Lock Haven on Sunday. Sydnor has scored in consecutive games, and leads the Bison with a pair of goals for the year. She is the first Bucknell player to repeat as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

AMANDA DiDOMIZIO, COLGATE So., GK, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
DiDomizio had a career-high 19 saves in a 5-1 loss to Rider on Sunday after earning the win in goal versus Siena Thursday.

KIM ENG, LEHIGH Sr., F, Morristown, N.J.
Eng scored a goal in each of Lehigh’s contests last week, and leads the Patriot League with three goals and eight points.

MARIA MACHALICK, LAFAYETTE Sr., M, Mountain Top, Pa.
Machalick had the game-winning goal against James Madison and played a stellar midfield versus No. 9 Penn State.


PATRIOT LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY AWARDS

M-F ATHLETIC MALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
JOHN POPE, AMERICAN Jr., Carlisle, Pa.
Pope earned his first collegiate victory at Colgate’s Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday, winning the event that included five Patriot League schools with a time of 20:03.00. He helped American to a third-place finish in the 11-team field. The 2011 second-team All-Patriot League honoree wins his first M-F Athletic Male Runner of the Week award.

M-F ATHLETIC FEMALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
ANNIE-NORAH BEVERIDGE, NAVY So., Ann Arbor, Mich.
Beveridge took first place at Colgate’s Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday, besting the field of 104 runners by 11 seconds. She led the entire 4,200-meter race and her time of 15:51.00 was the second-fastest ever run on the course. Beveridge helped Navy to a third-place finish in the 11-team field. The 2011 Patriot League Rookie of the Year receives her first M-F Athletic Female Runner of the Week award.

M-F ATHLETIC MALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
STEVE SCHROEDER, NAVY Fr., Monticello, Ill.
Schroeder turned in a strong performance in his first collegiate race, placing 21st in a time of 20:51.00 to help Navy place second to No. 12 Syracuse at Colgate’s Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday. The Mids placed ahead of the other four Patriot League schools in the field, with Schroeder finishing 27 seconds ahead of the next-closest freshman from a League competitor. Schroeder wins his first M-F Athletic Male Rookie of the Week award.

M-F ATHLETIC FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
OLIVIA BRACKETT, COLGATE  Fr., Weston, Mass.
In a race where five Patriot League freshmen placed in the top 16, Brackett emerged as the top of the group at her home course by placing seventh in a time of 16:15.00 at the Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday. She was the third Patriot League finisher overall in a field that included five teams from the League. Brackett helped Colgate to a fifth-place finish in the 11-team field in her collegiate debut. She is named M-F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week for the first time.

HONORABLE MENTION
LISA JUNTA, ARMY So., Springfield, Va.
Junta came in first place out of 60 runners at the Army Open, finishing the approximately 5,300-meter course in 19:06.30 to claim the top spot by over a minute.

LINDSAY GABOW, ARMY Fr., Pelham, N.Y.
Gabow came in second behind Junta at the Army Open, finishing in a time of 20:07.10 to end up as the only freshman in the top-seven finishers at her first collegiate meet.

TYLER MUELLER, LEHIGH Jr., Pottstown, Pa.
Mueller led Lehigh to a team victory at its own invitational on Friday by also claiming the individual crown, finishing the 6K race in a time of 18:24.70 to become the third straight Mountain Hawk to win the race.
