CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Patriot League Network's live event coverage continues this weekend as at least one League championship will be decided, a second could be determined, volleyball wraps up its regular season and Boston University begins is NCAA Tournament trip.
The men's soccer semifinals and championship play out this weekend on PLN from Navy's Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md. The host and top-seeded Midshipmen host No. 4 seed Bucknell on Friday at 4 p.m., while No. 2 Army takes on third-seeded Holy Cross in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. The two advancing teams will play for the 2013 Patriot League championship on Sunday at 1 p.m. on PLN, with the winner earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
A second League trophy could be doled out on Saturday, as Colgate football hosts Lehigh at 1 p.m. on PLN. The Raiders would clinch the 2013 title with a win and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA FCS playoffs, while a Lehigh victory would set up winner-take-all championship game against archrival Lafayette next weekend. Elsewhere in football, Bucknell plays host to Georgetown on Saturday at 1 p.m. on PLN.
It's the last weekend of the regular season in volleyball, and Friday's slate features a critical match between academy rivals Army and Navy at 7 p.m. in Annapolis. The Black Knights would clinch the fourth and final berth to the Patriot League Tournament with a win, while the Mids need a victory to stay alive and play for a potential playoff berth on Saturday. Other volleyball action on PLN this weekend includes Friday's Holy Cross at Lafayette contest at 5 p.m.
In addition to all those contests with significant League championship implications, PLN will also feature bonus coverage of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament when Boston University hosts Harvard Saturday at 3 p.m. in a first round contest from Nickerson Field.
Early-season games continue in both men's and women's basketball. On the men's side, PLN will air one game on Friday as Army hosts NJIT at 7 p.m. Coverage continues Saturday with Bucknell hosting St. Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m., while Loyola Maryland entertains Fairfield at 8 p.m. After the Holy Cross-Lafayette volleyball match Friday from Kirby Sports Center, the coverage there will turn to women's basketball as the Leopards host Columbia for an 8 p.m. tip. On Saturday, Boston University women's basketball will be in action at home against Rhode Island. Coverage continues on Sunday when Army hosts Weber State at 1 p.m., and Navy welcomes Iona at 2 p.m.
PLN's coverage will also extend to non-League sports this weekend. Lehigh wrestling will be in action at home against Bloomsburg on Friday at 7 p.m., and again on Sunday at 3 p.m. against visiting Penn State.
