CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Seven Patriot Leaguers received recognition from national or regional outlets for their performance last week, with Fordham freshman running back Chase Edmonds leading a group of four football players who were honored.
Edmonds, who was named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, was selected for additional honors by four different organizations. He picked up national Freshman or Rookie of the Week honors from The Sports Network and USA College Football, as well as a regional selection from the ECAC. Edmonds was also selected as the FCS Running Back of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.
Colgate sophomore Jonah Bowman added recognition as the ECAC Special Teams Player of the Week and CFPA Placekicker of the Week to his Corvias Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week honor, while Georgetown senior linebacker Nick Alfieri was named USA College Football FCS Linebacker of the Week after his Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honor. Fordham senior Ian Williams was selected as the CFPA Defensive Back Performer of the Week.
Navy junior Jamie Dubyoski was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week and also earned a spot on the 12-member College Soccer News National Team of the Week after earning the Corvias Patriot League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday. Two others were honored by the ECAC after earning Patriot League weekly awards, as Navy senior John Sweeney was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and Bucknell junior Shannon Keen was selected as the Field Hockey Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
