Patriot League Announces Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League announced its weekly awards for Oct. 5-11 in men and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball and men and women's swimming and diving on Monday.

Corvias Patriot League Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CODY GUERRY, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., F, Garland, Texas
Guerry netted three goals to help the Black Knights to a 1-0-1 week in Patriot League play. The senior scored in the opening half of a 1-1 draw at Holy Cross on Wednesday before notching two in a 3-2 victory over Lehigh on Sunday. Guerry gave Army West Point a 2-1 advantage in the 57th minute but the Mountain Hawks tied the game at two with a goal at 87:44. Guerry would strike again with just under two minutes to play at 88:04 with the game-winner. Sunday was his first career multi-goal game.

CORVIAS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DEREK VOGEL, NAVY Sr., D, Long Beach, Calif.
After earning a point from an assist on teammate Daniel Zaremba's goal in the Mids' 3-1 midweek victory over Lehigh, Vogel lifted Navy to its second victory of the week on Saturday in a 1-0 triumph over Holy Cross. The senior scored the game-winner at 10:20 on a cross by Zaremba and then helped the defense hold the Crusaders to just two shots on goal.

CORVIAS GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
MATT GILBERT, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Jr., GK, Madison, N.J.
Gilbert earns his second-straight Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honor after helping the Terriers to two more wins in League play. The junior tied his season high with eight saves in a midweek 1-0 overtime victory at Colgate then added another six in a 2-1 victory over Loyola. He now leads the Patriot League with 56 saves this season and 27 saves in League play. Boston University is riding a 13-game unbeaten streak in regular-season League action, its best stretch within a conference since going 28-0-1 from 1989-1993.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MAGNUS BENEDIKTSSON, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Fr., M, Reykjavik, Iceland
Playing a critical role in helping Boston University to a pair of Patriot League victories, Benediktsson assisted on both of the game winners for the Terriers last week. The rookie assisted teammate Anthony Viteri with a one-timer at the top of the box in overtime to win at Colgate, 1-0. Later in the week, he set up fellow classmate Nicki Wieners' game-winner in the 74th minute against Loyola.

HONORABLE MENTION

DALE LUDWIG, AMERICAN Jr., M, Palmyra, Va.
Ludwig scored the game-winning goal for the Eagles in overtime at the 95:43 mark for a 1-0 victory over Lafayette.

ANTHONY VITERI, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., M, Flushing, N.Y.
Viteri lifted the Terriers to a 1-0 overtime victory at Colgate in the 95th minute. He also had a game-high six shots in the 2-1 win over Loyola Maryland.

RICKY BROWN, COLGATE Jr., GK, Laguna Hills, Calif.
Brown tallied a 2-0 shutout over Bucknell and recorded a total of 11 saves and only allowed one goal after facing 32 shots across two games.

DANIEL ZAREMBA, NAVY So., F, Aiken, S.C.
Zaremba netted a goal in the Mids' 3-1 win over Lehigh, then assisted on teammate Derek Vogel's game-winning goal in the 1-0 win at Holy Cross.

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JENNA RAEPPLE, COLGATE Sr., F, Buffalo, N.Y.
In her first game back after suffering an injury, Raepple helped the Raiders earn a crucial win and three points in the Patriot League standings with a 2-1 overtime victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. The senior rocketed the game-winner in the 98th minute to give Colgate its second League win. After her first overtime shot went just wide and the second went high, Raepple made her third one count and finished off a long cross from teammate Sarah Coy.

LEXI RICKETTS, NAVY Sr., D, The Woodlands, Texas
Ricketts earns her second straight Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award after helping the Mids to their third straight shutout in League play, a 0-0 draw with Bucknell on Saturday. The senior held Bucknell's top scorer Kendall Ham -- who came in with 17 points on eight goals and one assist to five shots with just one on net. Of the Bison's 32 shots, Ricketts anchored a backline that allowed just seven on net.

CORVIAS GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
DAYTON WETHERBY, NAVY Jr., GK, Wesley Chapel, Fla.
Wetherby recorded seven saves in her third straight Patriot League shutout in a 0-0 draw at Bucknell. The junior keeper extended her scoreless streak to 332:55 minutes of play as Saturday's clean sheet was the first time this season that Bucknell did not score a goal at home. In addition to leading the League with three shutouts in League play, Wetherby holds a League best .882 save percentage.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
SABRINA MERTZ, LEHIGH Fr., F, Orefield, Pa.
Mertz helped the Mountain Hawks earn their first-ever win at Penn, defeating the Quakers for the first time since 1992 by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The rookie played a through ball to teammate Lexi Chang leading to the game's only goal and her third assist of the season. On Saturday, Mertz scored what was the game-winning goal, her seventh of the season, at the 51:27 mark off a free kick and helped Lehigh earn its first League win of the 2015 campaign in a 2-1 triumph over Loyola.

ADRIAN VITELLO, LEHIGH So., M, Manalapan, N.J.
Vitello helped the Mountain Hawks to their first Patriot League victory, a 2-1 win over Loyola on Saturday, by scoring Lehigh's first League goal of the season 1:21 into the second half.

COURTNEY BEMBENEK, AMERICAN Sr., GK, Joppa, Md.
Bembenek recorded 13 saves in a 1-1 draw with Army West Point on Saturday.

JESSICA RATNER, BUCKNELL Jr., GK, Langhorne, Pa.
Ratner recorded six saves and helped the Bison snap a four-game losing streak to Navy, earning her sixth shutout of the season in the 0-0 draw with the Mids.

ANI NAHAPETIAN, LEHIGH Sr., GK, Pleasanton, Calif.
Nahapetian recorded her second 10 save game of the season, collecting 11 in a 1-0 shutout victory over Penn. She then added five more in the 2-1 win over Loyola.

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PAIGE MACRAE, LAFAYETTE Sr., F, Moorestown, N.J.
Macrae led Lafayette to a 3-1 victory over Bucknell on Saturday by contributing to all three goals for the Leopards with a goal and two assists in the contest. She assisted on goals in the second and 44th minute as Lafayette built a 2-0 lead, then put the Leopards ahead 3-0 with a goal in the 54th minute. Macrae, who did not have a point in her first three seasons, came into the game with two goals and no assists in her career. Lafayette snapped Bucknell's eight-game Patriot League winning streak and dealt the Bison their first regular-season League defeat since 2013.

CORVIAS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RACHEL COLL, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., D, Greymouth, New Zealand
Coll repeats as the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Terriers give up just two goals in a pair of games last week. She picked up an assist as BU limited Holy Cross to three shots on goal in a 6-1 win on Friday, then helped the Terrier defense hold No. 4 Duke scoreless through regulation before falling 1-0 in overtime on Sunday. Boston University limited the Blue Devils to five shots on goal in the game. Coll is named Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career.

CORVIAS GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
CAMMY JENSEN, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Jr., GK, Escondido, Calif.
Jensen totaled six saves while giving up two goals in pair of games for the Terriers over the weekend. She made a pair of stops in a 6-1 win at Holy Cross on Friday, then made four saves against No. 4 Duke on Sunday to keep the Blue Devils scoreless through regulation before the Terriers fell 1-0 in overtime. Jensen had a 0.91 goals against average in the two games and leads the Patriot League with a 1.79 mark for the season. She is named Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this year.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ALLY HAMMEL, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Fr., F, Duxbury, Mass.
Hammel recorded a hat trick to lead Boston University to a 6-1 victory at Holy Cross on Friday evening as the Terriers remained unbeaten in League action. All three of her goals came in the first half as the Terriers built a 4-0 advantage at the break. Hammel had the first two goals for the Terriers in the 16th and 21st minute, then made it 4-0 with a tally in the 35th minute. Two of her three goals were unassisted. Hammel became the third Patriot Leaguer to post a hat trick this season, and the first to do it in a League contest.

Rubas had a pair of goals to lead the Eagles to a 3-1 victory at Colgate on Saturday.

KATELYN ARNOLD, LAFAYETTE Jr., GK, Coopersburg, Pa.
Arnold notched six saves in a 3-1 win over Bucknell on Saturday.

KIERSTEN SYDNOR, BUCKNELL Sr., F, Shippensburg, Pa.
Sydnor scored the game-winning goal 4:49 into overtime to give the Bison a 2-1 win at Temple on Sunday.

EMILY FINN, BUCKNELL So., GK, West Chester, Pa.
Finn made six saves in her first career start to lead the Bison to the 2-1 overtime win at Temple.

Molten Patriot League Volleyball Weekly Awards

MOLTEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MANDY SIFFERLEN, HOLY CROSS Jr., OH, Sudbury, Mass.
Sifferlen led the Crusaders to a 2-0 Patriot League record on the week with back-to-back double-digit kill matches. The junior helped Holy Cross to its first win, a five-setter over Navy on Friday, by tallying her fourth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 12 digs. She hit .348 and averaged 4.40 kills per set against the Mids. Sifferlen then recorded 12 kills and nine digs in a straight-set victory over Lafayette to finish the week with 34 kills, 4.25 kills per set, and 21 digs. Holy Cross started at home with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2010.

MOLTEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
LYNSEY PETERSEN, HOLY CROSS Fr., OH/RS, Palos Verdes, Calif.
Petersen had a hand in helping the Crusaders to a 2-0 week, posting her fifth double-double of the season in the five-set victory over Navy with 15 kills and 10 digs. She also added two service aces and three block assists. The rookie then followed up with another double-digit kill performance in the 3-0 win over Lafayette with 12 kills, in addition to serving three aces and dishing out five digs.

HONORABLE MENTION

VANESSA EDWARDS, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., S, Sacramento, Calif.
Edwards eclipsed the 2,000 career assist mark after posting 34 in a 3-0 win over Lafayette and 47 in a 3-2 win over Navy. She ranks seventh all-time in program history with 2,007 career assists.

KAREN CAMPBELL, BUCKNELL Sr., MB, Chesapeake, Va.
Campbell recorded 10 kills and no errors on 15 attempts to hit .667 in the 3-0 victory over Loyola.

SARAH KATZ, AMERICAN Sr., OH, Louisville, Ky.
Katz posted her second double-double of the season with 15 kills and 17 digs along with a season-high six blocks in the 3-2 win over Colgate. She then had 11 kills and nine digs in the 3-0 victory at Lehigh.

Corvias Patriot League Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

CORVIAS MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
BEN CONO, LOYOLA MARYLAND So., Smithtown, N.Y.
In his debut for the Greyhounds, Cono won four individual events in a two-day meet with American: the 50 breast (26.13), 100 breast (56.62), 200 breast (2:05.80), and 200 individual medley (1:56.71). The sophomore beat the field to the wall in the 50 yard sprint by nearly two seconds and then posted victories of more than three, four, and four seconds in the respective events. Cono's 100 breast time ranks as the fourth-fast in Loyola Maryland history, while is 200 breast checks in at fifth best.

CORVIAS FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
LAUREN BARBER, NAVY Fr., New Wilmington, Pa.
Barber helped the Mids to wins over George Mason (160-125), East Carolina (150.5-149.5), and Old Dominion (167-114) by winning eight individual events head-to-head. Against George Mason, the rookie took first in the 200 free (1:51.05), 200 breast (2:19.58), and 400 IM (4:29.64). In addition, she helped Navy earn second place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.48. Then in the tri-meet with East Carolina and Old Dominion, Barber once again swam the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay (1:45.15), where Navy defeated ODU and came in second to ECU. She took first against both teams in the 200 breast (2:18.61) and first in the 100 breast (1:04.13) against ODU and tied for first with ECU. Her time in the 200 IM (2:06.09) was good for first against Old Dominion and second against East Carolina.

CORVIAS MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
NATE BELCH, NAVY So., Tucson, Ariz.
Belch was a perfect 3-0 in the three meter dive against George Mason, East Carolina, and Old Dominion with scores of 316.88 and 325.85 respectively. Against the Patriots, he took second in the one meter dive with a score of 302.10. In the tri-meet with the Pirates and Monarchs, Blech finished third and second, respectively, with a score of 263.50.

CORVIAS FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
CASEY SHERMAN, HOLY CROSS Fr., Littleton, Mass.
Sherman took first place in both the one meter and three meter dive in a head-to-head meet with Iona. The freshman finished first in the one meter with a score of 269.54 and in the three meter with a score of 287.77. The rookie's three-meter dive set a new school record.

HONORABLE MENTION

PARIS WOOD, AMERICAN Sr., Walnut Creek, Calif.
Wood finished first in six individual events and her time of 57.71 in the 100 back broke a 17-year-old pool record at American.

ALEX NICKELL, NAVY Sr., Loveland, Colo.
Nickell recorded wins in five individual events this weekend, sweeping both distance events against East Carolina and Old Dominion.
