Patriot League Announces Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League announced its weekly awards for Oct. 12-18 in men and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men and women's cross country and men and women's swimming and diving on Monday.

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOE IRAOLA, AMERICAN Jr., F, Mahopac, N.Y.
Iraola helped the Eagles become the first team this season to shutout No. 19 Virginia, the defending NCAA champion, as American posted a 1-0 win over the Cavaliers. The junior rocketed a shot from the left edge of the box that went just inside the far post during the 12th minute to give American a 1-0 lead. The goal proved to be all that was needed as American snapped the Cavaliers 11-game win streak in the series. Iraola recorded one of the Eagles' three shots on goal in a scoreless draw against Army West Point Saturday.

CORVIAS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JUSTIN WORLEY, LEHIGH Jr., D, Reading, Pa.
Anchoring the Lehigh defense, Worley helped the Mountain Hawks post their seventh shutout of the season in an important Patriot League contest with Loyola Maryland Saturday night. The junior made several strong defensive plays in the 1-0 victory, which also marked head coach Dean Koski's 200th win of his career.

CORVIAS GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
DYLAN HOBERT, AMERICAN Sr., GK, Carrollton, Ga.
Hobert helped the Eagles become the first team this season to shutout No. 19 Virginia. The senior recorded four saves in Tuesday night's 1-0 victory, which snapped the Cavaliers 11-game win streak in the series. Against Army West Point this past weekend, Hobert tallied two saves in the 0-0 draw to post his seventh shutout of the season. He owns a 0.79 GAA and has not allowed a goal in the last 252 minutes of play. This is Hobert's second Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ARAM OULIGIAN, COLGATE Fr., D, Needham, Mass.
Ouligian played a key role in the Raiders' 2-0 blanking of Holy Cross on Saturday. The rookie continues to be a strong presence on the Colgate backline, while also adding to the attack with his size. Ouligian played the full 90 minutes in both games this week and recorded three shots. He is tied for the team lead with 1,151 minutes played on the season.

HONORABLE MENTION

YUJI CALLAHAN, HOLY CROSS So., F, Okinawa, Japan
Callahan helped the Crusaders defeat Duke, 1-0, by scoring the game-winning goal at 66:55.

JAMIE LUCHINI, LEHIGH Sr., F, Wexford, Pa.
Luchini scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to help the Mountain Hawks defeat Loyola Maryland 1-0. He leads the League with four game-winning goals this season.

CLARKE FOX, BUCKNELL Sr., GK, Berwyn, Pa.
Fox tallied nine saves to help Bucknell shut out Navy, 1-0, on Saturday.

BRIAN EHRLICH, LAFAYETTE So., GK, Ambler, Pa.
Ehrlich recorded seven saves in a 0-0 draw with NJIT before adding six more and allowing one goal in a 1-0 overtime loss to Boston University.

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KAELIN KING, LAFAYETTE Jr., F, La Canada, Calif.
King helped the Leopards get on the board early against Columbia, assisting on the first goal of the game at 1:29. Tied at 1-1, she then scored the game-winning goal at 49:07 and finished the game with three points and five shots - three of which were on target. King then helped Lafayette earn its first League win, a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. The junior had a hand in the game-winning goal as she collected an assist to finish the two games with four points. While she only earned one point in the game against the Crusaders, King led the offensive efforts with 11 shots including three on goal.

CORVIAS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULIANNA CABRERA, LOYOLA MARYLAND So., D, Highland, Md.
A defensive midfielder, Cabrera helped the Greyhounds earn three points towards the standings with a 1-0 victory over Army West Point. The sophomore aided in the defensive efforts of only allowing the Black Knights to six shots on goal and three on net.

ALYSSA PARISI, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., GK, Camarillo, Calif.
Parisis collected her fifth shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Lehigh on Saturday, when the Terriers celebrated Senior Day. The senior stopped all four shots she faced against the Mountain Hawks and has not allowed a goal in the last three contests. Parisi currently holds a nine-game unbeaten streak (7-0-2) and has helped Boston University remain undefeated in League play this season and a perfect 5-0 at home.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
TALIA SZATKOWSKI, BUCKNELL Fr., F, Shavertown, Pa.
Szatkowski scored the lone goal in Bucknell's 1-0 victory over American on Saturday. In the 45th minute of the first half, the rookie ripped a shot from inside the box to the far post at 44:55. The game-winning goal over the Eagles marked the first of her collegiate career.

HONORABLE MENTION

JENNA FISHER, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., F, Longmeadow, Mass.
Fisher has a hand in all three goals of the 3-0 victory over Lehigh. The senior scored the game's first goal and then earned assists on the next two.

ROSEY HAYES, LOYOLA MARLYAND Sr., M, Northport, N.Y.
Hayes notched her fourth game-winner of the year in the Greyhounds' 1-0 victory over Army West Point.

ANNIKA SHEEHAN, LAFAYETTE Fr., F, Wilton, Conn.
Sheehan helped the Leopards post their first League win this season by scoring the game-winner in the 1-0 victory over Holy Cross.

CORVIAS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KIERSTEN SYDNOR, BUCKNELL Sr., F, Shippensburg, Pa.
Sydnor had four goals in two games as the Bison split a pair of home contests over the weekend. She tallied a pair of unassisted goals in Bucknell's 5-2 win over Holy Cross on Saturday, putting the Bison ahead 2-0 in the 27th minute and then making it a 4-1 game in the 49th minute. Sydnor had both of Bucknell's goals in a 3-2 overtime loss against Penn on Sunday, tying the score at 1-1 in the 21st minute and giving the Bison a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute. Sydnor has taken over the Patriot League lead for both goals (11) and points (25) for the season.

CORVIAS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALLIE RENZI, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., D, Acton, Mass.
Renzi played a key role in helping the No. 17 Terriers to a 3-0 win over Lehigh on Saturday and made a pair of defensive saves in a 5-0 loss at No. 2 Connecticut on Sunday. The Boston University defense limited Lehigh to seven shots (four on goal) and two penalty corners in the shutout win. Renzi was also one of three Terriers with a shot on goal against the Huskies.

KATE McBEATH, AMERICAN Sr., GK, Barhamsville, Va.
McBeath helped American to a 5-2 win over Lafayette on Saturday and made nine saves to keep the Eagles close in a 2-1 double overtime loss against Kent State on Sunday. The victory over the Leopards was her eighth of the season. McBeath held Kent State off the board for more than 67 minutes before the Golden Flashes had a goal late in regulation, and she kept the Eagles in it with four saves in the overtime sessions. McBeath is named Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season and fifth in her career.

CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
NICOLE RUPNIK, BUCKNELL Fr., F, Camp Hill, Pa.
Rupnik had a pair of goals to help the Bison earn a key Patriot League win with a 5-2 triumph over Holy Cross on Saturday. She had the game-winner by opening the scoring in the eighth minute, and tallied the Bison's final goal to make it a 5-1 game in the 59th minute. Rupnik is now tied for sixth in the Patriot League with seven goals for the season.

ISABEL TERWINDT, AMERICAN Sr., M, Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands
Terwindt had a pair of goals in American's 5-2 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

SOFI LAURITO, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., M, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Laurito tallied two goals to lead the Terriers to a 3-0 win over Lehigh on Saturday.

MAUREEN CONNOLLY, HOLY CROSS So., F, New Canaan, Conn.
Connolly had a goal in each of Holy Cross' two contests last week.

TERESA CAROTENUTO, LEHIGH Fr., F, Macungie, Pa.
Carotenuto scored a pair of goals in Lehigh's 3-1 win at Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Molten Patriot League Volleyball Weekly Awards

MOLTEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
VANESSA WESLEY, ARMY WEST POINT So., MB, Phoenix, Ariz.
Wesley helped the Black Knights turn in a 2-0 week with straight-set victories and extend their winning streak to five by averaging 4.50 kills per set in the two matches. The sophomore led the team in kills against Lehigh and Bucknell, recording back-to-back double-digits efforts. She hit .455 (13 K, 3 E, 22 Att.) while adding three blocks against the Mountain Hawks. Against the Bison, Wesley totaled 14 kills, seven of which were in the first set, and three errors on 22 attempts to hit .500 in addition to four blocks.

MOLTEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
PATRICIA MATTINGLY, NAVY Fr., S, New Albany, Ind.
Mattingly earns her first career weekly honor after helping the Mids to their first League wins of the season. Contributing on 67 points, the rookie posted 26 assists against Loyola and 30 against Lafayette in Navy's two wins. She also recorded 12 digs to post her sixth double-double of the year and second in a three-set match. The 30 assists also marked a personal best in a three-set match. Mattingly also collected five service aces, three against Lafayette, and totaled four blocks.

HONORABLE MENTION

GABY SMITH, NAVY Jr., OH, Virginia Beach, Va.
Smith led Navy to its first League wins with her efforts at the net, hitting .327 and totaling 21 kills. She also added two aces against Loyola Maryland and had a career-high four solo blocks against Lafayette.

ALLISON CAPPELLINO, AMERICAN Sr., OH, Penfield, N.Y.
Cappellino posted back-to-back matches with double-digit kills (10 & 12) and helped American hit a season-high .407 versus Loyola Maryland.

ANA VRHEL, LEHIGH Sr., MB, Berwyn, Ill.
Hitting .385 over a 1-0-1 weekend, Vrhel tallied 20 kills, two aces, and four blocks.

M-F Athletic Patriot League Cross Country Weekly Awards

M-F ATHLETIC MALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
JOSHUA ELLIS, AMERICAN Sr., Austin, Texas
Ellis crossed the line in first place at the Leopard Invitational as he finished the 8K in 25:26.5 to win among a field of 133 runners. It was his second individual win of the season and helped the Eagles finish in second place in the nine-team field. Ellis is named M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Runner of the Week for the second time this season.

M-F ATHLETIC FEMALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
KASSIDY AYRES, AMERICAN Fr., Blauvelt, N.Y.
Ayres continued her outstanding freshman season by finishing in first place out of 71 runners at the Leopard Invitational with a time of 22:00.9 in the 6K race. She helped the Eagles come in second place out of five teams in the competition. Ayers completes her regular season with five M-F Athletic Patriot League weekly awards, claiming the Runner of the Week honor for the second time to go with three Rookie of the Week nods.

M-F ATHLETIC MALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MATTHEW RAINEY, AMERICAN Fr., Westfield, Mass.
Rainey helped the Eagles come in second place at the Leopard Invitational by finishing in 14th position with a time of 26:18.5 in the 8K race. He was third among all freshmen in the race. Rainey claims his second M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week award of the season.

M-F ATHLETIC FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ABBY HALBROOK, ARMY WEST POINT Fr., Tyler, Texas
Halbrook came in second place in a dual meet against rival Navy as she crossed the line in a time of 22:24.58 in the 6K race. Halbrook was running as the team's No. 1 for the first time and helped the Black Knights stay close in a 23-35 loss to the Mids.

HONORABLE MENTION

LUCAS STALNAKER, NAVY Jr., Tega Cay, S.C.
Stalnaker came in first place with a time of 25:03.02 on the 8K course as Navy handled Army West Point 15-50 in a dual meet.

PATRICK REILLY, LEHIGH So., York, Pa.
Reilly was the top Patriot League finisher at the Princeton Invitational as he came in 15th place with a personal-best time of 24:31.1 in the 8K race.

KELLEY ROBINSON, NAVY Sr., Nederlands, Colo.
Robinson led Navy to a 23-35 win over Army West Point as she finished first with a time of 21:54.18 in the 6K race.

SARAH CHANDLER, BUCKNELL Jr., Pennington, N.J.
Chandler came in seventh place out of 206 runners at the Princeton Invitational with a time of 21:23 in the 6K race, helping the Bison finish sixth in the 24-team field.

ERIN McDONNELL, NAVY Fr., Traverse City, Mich.
McDonnell came in third place against Army West Point with a time of 22:26.55 to help the Mids to the dual meet victory.

CORVIAS MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
MARLIN BRUTKIEWICZ, NAVY Jr., Mobile, Ala.
Brutkiewicz recorded a trio of wins against UMBC, winning two individual events and contributing to a first-place finish on the 200 medley relay. Swimming the breaststroke leg, the Mids captured the win with a time of 1:32.81. Brutkiewicz then swam in both the 100 and 200 breast, taking first in the former by 2.15 seconds with a time of 56.58. He then won the 200 by 4.06 seconds when he touched the wall at 2:04.76.

CORVIAS FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
ERIN NABNEY, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Fr., London, England
The Terriers took first in 13 of 16 events to defeat Bucknell, 194-106, and Nabney collected wins in every race she competed. The rookie also swam a personal best in the 100 breast, finishing first at 1:05.40. In the 200 breast, she finished at 2:20.59 and then swam 2:05.32 in the 200 IM. Nabney also helped Boston University take first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.51.

CORVIAS MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
ADAM GROSS, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., Orange County, Calif.
In his first meet of the season, Gross swept the diving competition and qualified for the NCAA Zones. He recorded a personal best 310.80 points in the one-meter dive, surpassing the one-meter dive standard of 300. He then added a win in the three-meter dive with 284.775 points.

CORVIAS FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
KYRA TATLOW, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., Mesa, Ariz.
Tatlow won the one-meter dive for the second straight week and added a win in the three-meter dive to sweep the diving competition against Bucknell. The sophomore finished with 253.125 points in the one meter and totaled 269.32 in the three meter.

HONORABLE MENTION

GARRETT CHIN, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., La Canada Calif.
Chin helped the Terriers take 13 first-place finishes out of 16 and earn a win over Bucknell by touching the line first in the 200 back and 200 IM.

ANDREW HACKER, COLGATE Sr., Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Hacker posted three individual wins - 50, 100, and 200 free events -- and helped the Raiders to a first-place finish in the 400 free relay.

HANNA GILLCRIST, NAVY Jr., Burlington, Ky.
Gillcrest recorded a pair of individual event victories, winning the 100 and 200 butterfly, while posting the fastest second leg in the 400 free relay win.
