Patriot League Men’s Track & Field Place 203 Student-Athletes on 2017-18 Academic Honor Roll

Complete List of the 2017-18 Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –
 The Patriot League has announced its 2017-18 Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Academic Honor Roll, with the nine-member programs combining to have 203 student-athletes recognized for their excellence in the classroom.
                   
To be eligible for the Patriot League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
 
Bucknell had a League-high 31 student-athletes make the Academic Honor Roll, while Holy Cross and Lehigh each placed 29 on the list. Lafayette and Navy had 23 apiece, Boston University placed 21, and Army West Point added 20 student-athletes making the honor roll. Colgate (17) and American (10) round out the order.
 
All ten members of the Men’s Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Patriot League team, and ten of the 11 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Patriot League squad members made the academic honor roll, including Patriot League Men’s Indoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year Army West Point sophomore Benjamin Petrella along with Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Navy junior Stefano Pineda. Additionally American junior Matthew Rainey (indoor); Army West Point junior Kenneth Brinson (indoor/outdoor) and sophomore teammate Jackson Sullivan (outdoor); Boston University junior Johnny Kemps (indoor); Bucknell sophomore Sean Conway (indoor); Lafayette sophomore Tyler Hubeny (outdoor); Lehigh senior Patrick Reilly (indoor/outdoor) along with sophomore teammates Jeffrey Kirshenbaum (indoor/outdoor) and Victor Yegon (outdoor); and Navy’s representatives including seniors Josh Hanna (indoor) and Benjamin Stewart (outdoor), junior Demetrius Lanier (indoor), and sophomore Jake Brophy (outdoor) all made the academic honor roll, after being selected to the respective academic all-League squads. Army West Point’s Petrella and Navy’s Pineda were selected to both the indoor and outdoor Academic All-Patriot League team and the honor roll.
 
The Patriot League Men’s Track & Field Academic Honor Roll featured 19 student-athletes that recorded a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) or higher, led by Lehigh and Navy with five each. Joining Lehigh’s Reilly and Kirshenbaum, include senior Henry Paul, sophomore Kyle Sult and freshman Seth Slavin. In addition to Navy’s Pineda, the mids also include senior David Liedtka, junior Michael Karls along with freshmen Thomas Johnstone and Luke Moffett. Also receiving a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester were Tyrese Bender (Army West Point, Fr.), Kyle Adams (Bucknell, Sr.), Peter Onusconich (Bucknell, Sr.), Matt Vira (Bucknell, So.), Nick Hamilton (Colgate, Sr.), Aidan Kutner (Colgate, Sr.), Christopher Puntasecca (Holy Cross, Jr.), Matthew Weintraub (Lafayette, Sr.) and Steven Young (Lafayette, Sr.).
