CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army West Point junior first baseman Jeremiah Adams singled to drive in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and senior left-handed pitcher Cam Opp tossed a scoreless bottom of the ninth to lift the No. 3 Black Knights over top-seeded Navy, 4-3, to capture its second consecutive Patriot League Baseball Championship.
Opp allowed one run on three hits over 3.0 innings of relief to earn the championship-clinching victory for Army West Point. Junior centerfielder Jacob Hurtubise reached base five times, going 2-for-2 and walking three times while scoring twice. He also stole one base.
Hurtubise was named the 2019 Patriot League Baseball Tournament Most Valuable Player after batting .522 (12-for-23) with eight runs scored while reaching base at a .607 clip through six tournament games. He was also one of the 11 members of the All-Tournament Team.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Army junior first baseman Jeremiah Adams singled to drive in sophomore third baseman Anthony Giachin for the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and senior left-handed pitcher Cam Opp pitched a scoreless ninth inning to lift the Black Knights to a 4-3 victory over No. 1 Navy to clinch their second consecutive Patriot League Baseball Championship.
*Opp tossed 3.0 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits to earn the victory. Hurtubise reached base five times, going 2-for-2 at the plate and walking three times. Giachin went 2-for-5 with one run and an RBI.
*Junior second baseman Zach Biggers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, including a solo home run, to lead the Midshipmen.
*Army West Point starter Daniel Burggraaf allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits over 6.0 innings, but did not figure in the decision. Navy starter Charlie Connolly also did not figure in the decision after allowing two runs on three hits over 5.2 innings.
*Hurtubise drew a lead-off walk then stole second base before sophomore third baseman Anthony Giachin singled through the right side to score Hurtubise to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
*A sacrifice fly from the bat of senior designated hitter Liam Lowery plated freshman first baseman Zach Stevens to tie the game at one run apiece in the bottom of the fourth inning.
*Senior left fielder Evan Lowery tripled to left field and scored on a base hit from junior second baseman Zach Biggers to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
*The Black Knights tied the score in the top of the sixth inning when sophomore left fielder Andre Walden’s sacrifice fly scored Hurtubise.
*Army senior shortstop Josh White singled to drive in pinch-runner Carter Macias in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Knights back in front, 3-2.
*Biggers tied the score at three runs apiece in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run over the wall in left field.
*Adams singled to left field to drive in Giachin to put the Black Knights back in front, 4-3.
*Opp held the Midshipmen scoreless in the ninth inning to seal the Black Knights’ second-consecutive Patriot League title.
