Patriot League Announces 152 on Women’s Cross Country Academic Honor Roll (1.30.20)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League has announced its 2019 Women’s Cross Country Academic Honor Roll with the 10-member programs combining to recognize 152 student-athletes for their excellence in the classroom. 
 
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.20-grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s seven fall championship sports, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
 
Bucknell placed a League-high 21 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll while Lafayette had 19 and Navy finished with 18 honorees. Loyola Maryland had 16 recognized while American and Holy Cross both placed 15 student-athletes on the honor roll. Fourteen members of the Patriot League champion Boston University women’s cross country team were recognized while Colgate placed 12, and Army West Point and Lehigh had 11 apiece.
 
Six of the seven members of the 2019 Academic All-Patriot League Women’s Cross Country squad made the honor roll, including Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Performer of the Championship Meet Abigail Gugel (Boston University, Sr.). Army West Point junior Mika Andrews, Holy Cross senior Allison McArdle, Lehigh senior Diana Hammerstone and junior Susie Poore, and Navy sophomore Maddie Warrender all earned a spot on the honor roll after being named to the Academic All-Patriot League Women’s Cross Country team.
 
Ten of the 14 members of the 2019 All-Patriot League teams made the academic honor roll. Gugel, McArdle, Bucknell sophomore Olivia Dyer and Navy junior Emily Craig made the honor roll after earning first-team All-League recognition at the 2019 championship. Andrews, Hammerstone, Boston University junior Corinne Batsu and freshman Joceline Wind, Bucknell sophomore Nora Bennett and Navy freshman Elizabeth Sullivan made it from the second team.
 
The Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Academic Honor Roll featured 24 student-athletes that recorded a 4.0 GPA or higher. Gugel, Hammerstone, Poore and Warrender highlight a group that features American freshmen Amanda Muniz and Rachel Potter along with junior Shelbi Wuss, Bucknell freshman Mia Bellucci, sophomore Karly Forker, junior Madeleine Hunt, Freshman Asta Rustad, Colgate junior Hannah Kloster and sophomore Fiona Saunders, Holy Cross senior Deana Pileika, Lafayette junior Emily Becker, senior Rebecca Bosanko, freshmen Rebecca Hartman, Rachel Hurley and Dannah Javens, Lehigh seniors Kara Bonner and Ashleigh Crawford, sophomore Annalise Davis, Loyola Maryland sophomore Julia Vledder and senior Kelly Williamson.
