2021 Patriot League Softball Championship Preview (5.13.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Top-seed Boston University will host the Patriot League Softball Champion­ship starting on Thursday, May 13 for the third-straight season. The Terriers welcome Army West Point, Colgate and Lehigh to Boston, Mass. for a three-day, double-elimination event to determine the 2021 Patriot League Softball champion.

Top-seed Boston U will host No. 4 Army at Noon with No. 2 Lehigh taking on No. 3 Colgate at 2:30 p.m. to begin the three-day, double-elimination tournament. Each game during the 2021 Patriot League Softball Championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
Per Boston University policy regarding visitors on campus, spectators are not allowed at any athletic event during the Spring semester. For BU Athletics outdoor facilities, this restriction includes all areas surrounding the venue. Please be advised that any visitors who gather to watch an event will be asked to leave the area by game management personnel.

Softball Set to Host Third Straight Patriot League Tournament
Riding a 15-game win streak, the top-seeded and two-time defending Patriot League tournament champion Boston University softball team will open its title defense at home against fourth-seeded Army West Point with the first pitch slated for noon. The Terriers had a historic regular season in which it posted a program record-breaking .943 winning percentage with a 33-2 record, including 10-0 mark in games decided by one run, and will try to make even more history by capturing a third straight tournament crown for the first time.

Raiders Open Postseason Run Thursday
The third-seeded Colgate softball team is set to take on second-seeded Lehigh in the first round of the Patriot League tournament on Thursday. The first pitch from Boston University is 2:30 p.m. Colgate (15-13-1, 13-9-1 PL) and Lehigh (16-14, 14-8 PL) meet in the postseason for the first time since 2013. The Raiders took three out of four games from the Mountain Hawks earlier this season at Eaton Street Field, marking their first-ever four-game series win over Lehigh.

Mountain Hawks to Open Patriot League Tournament Thursday against Colgate in Boston
Winners of eight straight games to close out the regular season, Lehigh heads to Boston for the 2021 Patriot League Softball Tournament, slated for Thursday through Saturday at BU Softball Field. Boston University the two-time defending tournament champion and is hosting for the third straight time. Lehigh has won a league-best 14 tournament titles, most recently in 2017, and reached the finals in 2018 and 2019.
