Patriot League Announces 2021 Women’s Rowing All-League Teams (5.21.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After winning the Varsity Eight Grand Final at the 2021 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Championship, the Navy women’s rowing program placed seven student-athletes on the All-Patriot League teams, the League office announced Friday.
 
The Mids led the six institutions represented on the first-and second-team squads, followed by Bucknell with four selections. Boston University, Colgate and Lehigh each had two honorees, while Holy Cross had one selection.
 
The All-League teams are based on the team’s finish in the Varsity Eight Grand Final from the Patriot League Rowing Championship, which was held on Friday, May 14 on Cooper River in New Jersey.
 
The Mids, the 2021 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Champion, were represented on the all-League team by three juniors, two seniors and one sophomore and freshman. Sophomore Amelia Oldham was joined by senior Alexandria Vallancey-Martinson and juniors Brooke Campbell and coxswain Polly Finch on the first team. Navy freshman Lauren Day, senior Margaret Lane and junior Hanna Prince were all named to the second team.

Runner-up Bucknell placed four members on the All-Patriot League teams collectively with sophomore Caroline Brandt and junior Erin Sullivan being named to the first team, while freshman coxswain Juliette Gaggini and junior Kate Meerscheidt received second-team accolades.
 
Rounding out the All-Patriot League first team was Boston U. senior Maia Adley, Colgate sophomore Edi Dukesherer and Lehigh junior Honora Campbell.
 
Boston University junior Megan Mastrorilli, Colgate freshman Genna Lamphier, Holy Cross senior Madeline Downey, Lehigh junior Gabrielle Eliseo complete the second team.

For the third straight year, Navy head coach Joe Schlosberg was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year, and the Mids’ Varsity Eight was named the Patriot League Boat of the Year.

The Midshipmen earned the Patriot League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Rowing Championship, which will take place May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
