BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola Maryland senior attack Aidan Olmstead was named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete and was one of the student-athletes on the 12-member Academic All-League team, when it announced by the League office Thursday.
Six of the nine institutions were represented on the academic team, with Lehigh and Loyola Maryland leading the way with three student-athletes each. Bucknell and Navy both placed two on the team, while Boston University and Holy Cross rounded out the academic team with one representative each.
Nine All-Academic selections were also named to the All-League teams announced on Tuesday, including five first-team and four second-team members.
The selection process was conducted by the League’s men’s lacrosse sports information directors, who could not vote for their student-athletes.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for the honors.

* Olmstead is a dual major in international business and global studies and owns a 3.917 cumulative grade-point average.
* The senior is a seven-time Dean’s List honoree at Loyola Maryland and a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor List member.
* Olmstead is a member of Loyola’s National Leadership Honor Society - Omicron Delta Kappa.
* This season Olmstead recorded 10 games with two or more points, five games with multiple goals and seven games with multiple assists.
* He ranks fifth in the Patriot League this season in assists per game (1.92) and eighth in points (3.5).
* Olmstead sits in seventh in school history at Loyola in career assists (79) and tied for 13th in career points (150).
