Patriot League Announces 2021-22 Championship Schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League has announced its 23-sport League championship schedule for the 2021-22 season. The schedule begins with the men’s and women’s cross country championships on Sunday, Oct. 31, at Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, Pa.
 
Information for all of the Patriot League’s 23 championships can be found by visiting the League’s official website – PatriotLeague.org. Coverage of select Patriot League Championships will be available to stream via the Patriot League on ESPN. CBS Sports Network will also provide coverage for several League championships.
 
Patriot League Fall Championships
Regular-season competition will determine the locations for the four remaining fall sports championships, including field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. The Patriot League Field Hockey Championship will be hosted by the No. 1 seed. Semifinal-round action is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4, with the championship game set for Saturday, Nov. 6.
 
The women’s soccer quarterfinal round begins on Sunday, Oct. 31, at the home site of the tournament’s No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The semifinal contests (Nov. 4) will be hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, with the championship game (Nov. 7) being held at the home of the highest remaining seed.
 
The men’s soccer championship will follow the same format, beginning with quarterfinal-round play on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the home of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will host the semifinal round on Tuesday, Nov. 9, with the championship game taking place at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Nov. 13.
 
The six-team Patriot League Volleyball Championship will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 16, with quarterfinal-round matches at the home of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The No. 1 seed will host the semifinals (Nov. 20) and championship game (Nov. 21).
 
Patriot League Winter Championships
The Patriot League winter championship season kicks off with the four-day men’s and women’s swimming and diving championship beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 16, and concluding on Saturday, Feb. 19. The U.S. Naval Academy will host the championship meet at Lejeune Hall. The 2021-22 Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship will be hosted by Bucknell University at Gerhard Fieldhouse from Saturday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, Feb. 27.
 
Home sites for the 2021-22 Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be determined by seeding. The men’s basketball championship first round is Tuesday, March 1, at the home court of the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds. The top four seeds in the tournament earn home games in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 3. The two highest remaining seeds will host semifinals matchups on Sunday, March 6, before the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game on Wednesday, March 9, at the home of the highest remaining seed.
 
The first round for the women’s basketball championship is Saturday, March 5, at the home court of the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds. The four highest seeds will host a game in the quarterfinal round on Monday, March 7, with the two highest remaining seeds hosting a semifinal-round game on Thursday, March 10. The 2021-22 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, March 13 at the home of the highest remaining seed.
 
Patriot League Spring Championships
Destinations for seven of the Patriot League’s 11 spring championship sports have been determined. The spring championship season kicks off with the Patriot League Women’s Golf Championships, beginning on Friday, April 15, and concluding on Sunday, April 17, at the U.S. Naval Golf Course in Annapolis, Md. Lehigh will host the women’s tennis championships from Thursday, April 21, through Sunday, April 24. Navy will host the Patriot League Men’s Tennis Championship from Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1, while Lafayette will host the men’s golf championship from Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1 at Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa.
 
The Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship will take place on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, at Navy’s Ingram Field in Annapolis, Md. The Patriot League Women’s Rowing Championship will take place on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., on Friday, May 13.
 
Sites for the four remaining spring championships will be determined by regular-season competition. The women’s lacrosse championship begins with a pair of quarterfinal matchups on Sunday, May 1, at the home of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The No. 1 seed will host the semifinals on Thursday, May 5, and the championship game on Saturday, May 7. The men’s lacrosse championship begins on Tuesday, May 3, with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds earning hosting duties. The top seed will host the semifinals on Friday, May 6, with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, May 8.
 
The top seed will host the 2022 Patriot League Softball Championship, beginning on Thursday, May 12, and concluding on Saturday, May 14. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will host the best-of-three game Patriot League Baseball Championship semifinals on May 14 and May 15. The highest remaining seed will host the best-of-three championship series, beginning on Friday, May 20 and continuing to Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, if necessary.
