BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate senior guard Tucker Richardson received Patriot League GEICO Men’s Basketball Player of the Week when the League office announced weekly accolades on Monday. Lehigh freshman guard Tyler Whitney-Sidney captured his second rookie of the week accolade.
Richardson collected GEICO Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time this season after averaging 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists to help Colgate go 3-0 last week while claiming the Patriot League regular-season title and extending its winning streak to 12 games.
Whitney-Sidney claimed his second GEICO Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week after averaging 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists to help Lehigh earn wins against American and Lafayette to clinch the No. 4 seed in the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship.
American senior guard Stacy Beckton Jr., Army West Point Jalen Rucker, Boston University graduate student guard Javante McCoy, Bucknell junior guard Xander Rice, Holy Cross senior forward Gerrale Gates, Lehigh senior center Nic Lynch and Navy senior guard John Carter Jr. received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Richardson averaged 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists to help Colgate go 3-0 last week with wins over American, Holy Cross and Navy, while shooting 59.5 percent (22-of-37) from the floor and 40 percent (8-of-20) from long distance.
*The senior guard scored a career-high 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting in the Raiders’ 78-71 victory over Holy Cross.
*He finished with a game-high 23 points and added nine rebounds and five assists in a 74-69 win against Navy to extend Colgate’s winning streak to 12 games.

*He finished with nine points, six rebounds and five assists in Lehigh’s 78-58 win at Lafayette in the regular-season finale.

*Rucker averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists to help Army West Point go 2-0 last week with wins against Bucknell and Holy Cross. He scored a game-high 24 points in a 66-58 win against the Crusaders on Saturday.

*Gates averaged 19.3 points and 10.0 rebounds in three games last week, posting double-doubles in the Crusaders’ final two games of the season against Colgate and Army West Point.

*Lynch averaged 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds to help Lehigh to a 2-0 week with wins over American and Lafayette. He scored a career-high 30 points in a 78-61 win against American before posting a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards at Lafayette.
