Patriot League Announces GEICO Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (3.28.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Boston University collected two of the five Patriot League GEICO Men's Lacrosse weekly awards, while Bucknell, Holy Cross and Navy earned one when the League announced the awards on Monday.
 
BU junior attack Vince D'Alto claimed offensive player of the week while teammate junior Conor Calderone was named the faceoff specialist of the week.

Bucknell freshman Rich O'Halloran earned goalkeeper of the week, and Holy Cross senior defender Chris Conlin nabbed defensive player of the week.

Navy freshman attack Henry Tolker rounded out the awards as rookie of the week for the second time this season.
 
Army West Point senior attack Brendan Nichtern and senior goalkeeper Wyatt Schupler, Boston U senior goalkeeper Matt Garber, Bucknell freshman attack Connor Davis, Lehigh senior faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger, Loyola graduate student faceoff specialist Bailey Savio, and Navy all earned honorable mention recognition.
 
The Patriot League Men's Lacrosse weekly awards are selected in a vote by each school's sports information director, who is not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

* Brendan Nichtern, Army – Program record - Career points (241) and assists (143)
* Conor Calderone, Boston U – Program record and tied League record - Ground balls in a single game (21)

Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
Vince D'Alto, Boston University, Jr., A, Northport, N.Y./Kings Park
* D'Alto set a program and League record with 14 points thanks to a career-high seven goals and seven assists in a 21-11 win over Lafayette.
* D'Alto is just the eighth Division I men's lacrosse player to notch at least 14 points and one of just two players (Michael Sowers, Miles Thompson) to accomplish the feat since 2013.
* D'Alto also eclipsed the 100-point milestone on Saturday and now has 111 career points in just 23 career games.
 
Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Conlin, Holy Cross, Sr., D, Chatham, N.J./Chatham
* Conlin earned a season-high four caused turnovers in Saturday's contest against Navy.
* Conlin also picked up a season-high six ground balls against the Midshipmen.
 
Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Conor Calderone, Boston University, Jr., M/FO, Smithtown, N.Y./Maryland
* Calderone broke the League record while matching the NCAA Division record with 32 faceoff wins in a 32-of-34 performance at the X in the 21-11 win over Lafayette.
* He also gathered a program-record 21 ground balls in the win, and tied the League record set by Lehigh's Mike Sisselberger in 2021.
* Calderone went 10-for-11 in the first quarter, 7-for-7 in the second quarter, 8-for-9 in the third quarter and 7-for-7 in the fourth quarter.
 
Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week
Rich O'Halloran, Bucknell, Fr., GK., Denver, Colo./Taft School (Conn.)
* O'Halloran matched a career-high 14 saves in Bucknell's 14-6 victory over Colgate.
* The freshman boasted a .700 save percentage to help the Bison limit the Raiders to six goals.
* He was part of defense that held Colgate without a goal for a 29:27 stretch between the first and third quarters.

Rookie of the Week
Henry Tolker, Navy, Fr., A, Catonsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield
* Tolker led the Mids with a career-high four goals, including three during Navy's five-goal second quarter in the win over Holy Cross.
* It was Tolker's fourth hat trick of the season, tying for the most on the team with teammate Patrick Skalniak.
* The freshman also picked up a career-high seven ground balls, including three that maintained possession for Navy and would lead to eventual goals.
 
Honorable Mentions
Brendan Nichtern, Army West Point, Sr., A, Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa (USMAPS)
* Nichtern had a game-high seven points (3g, 4a), including five points in the fourth quarter as the Black Knights defeated Loyola, 14-12. Nichtern now sits atop of Army's career points (241) and assists (143) lists, passing Tim Pearson '02 in both categories.
 
Wyatt Schupler, Army West Point, Sr., GK, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra
* Schupler made 13 saves to mark his seventh-straight double-digit saves game in the team's 14-12 win over Loyola Maryland.
 
Matt Garber, Boston University, Sr., GK, Westport, Conn./Staples
* Garber made 12 saves at No. 15 Harvard on Tuesday and matched that total in the 21-11 victory versus Lafayette. Garber set a career-high with eight ground balls at Harvard and added three ground balls against the Leopards.
 
Connor Davis, Bucknell, Fr., A, Bethesda, Md./Bullis School
* Davis led the Bison with five points (3g-2a) in Saturday's 14-6 victory over Colgate. The freshman has recorded a hat trick in seven of Bucknell's nine games this season.
 
Mike Sisselberger, Lehigh, Sr., FO/M, Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh
* Sisselberger finished 17-of-29 and won the last five faceoffs in the game against Georgetown. The senior added 11 groundballs to give him 246 for his career, moving him into third place in program history.
 
Bailey Savio, Loyola Maryland, Gr., FO, Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich
* Savio set the Patriot League record for career face-off wins (714), breaking a League mark for the second week in a row. He went 18-for-29 at the dot with 10 ground balls against Army, and in the process, he broke the League and Loyola marks for faceoff wins of 709 set in 2017 by his brother, Graham.
 
Zach Snider, Navy, Jr., LSM, Drexel Hill, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep School
* Snider was part of a defensive unit that held Holy Cross to single digits (8) and to its second-fewest shots (29) of the season. The junior also scored a pair of unassisted goals in the contest, the first goals of his collegiate career.
