2022 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Quarterfinal Round Recap (5.1.22)

Navy and Lehigh advance to Thursday’s semifinal round in Baltimore

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 3 Navy defeated No. 6 American, and No. 5 Lehigh outlasted No. 4 Colgate to advance to the 2022 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Semifinals on Thursday, May 5, at Loyola Maryland’s Ridley Athletic Complex.
 
Navy defeated American, 23-13, behind six goals and two assists from senior attack Reagan Roelofs. Lehigh avenged their Thursday loss to Colgate with a 12-7 win, as juniors Katia Carnevale and Emma Eberhardt combined for nine goals.
 
The fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks will play the regular-season champion Greyhounds in the first semifinal matchup at 3 p.m. The No. 3 Mids will play No. 2 Army West Point at 7 p.m. Both games will be available on ESPN+.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy senior attack Reagan Roelofs finished with six goals, two assists and 10 draw controls to lead the No. 3 Mids to a 23-13 victory over No. 6 American on Sunday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
*Roelofs scored the first two goals of the game to set the tone for a Navy squad who never trailed on its way to the Patriot League semifinals on Thursday.
*Senior midfielder Gil Eby contributed five goals and an assist, while senior defender Christine Fiore finished with three goals, two assists and three ground balls.
*American graduate student attack Emma Vinall led the Eagles with six points on five goals and one assist, while freshman attack Maddy Spratt added two goals and three assists.
*Graduate student midfielder Kendall Goldblum finished with three goals and an assist for an Eagles squad that made its first postseason appearance since 2013.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Lehigh junior attack Katia Carnevale and junior midfielder Emma Eberhardt combined for nine goals to lead the fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks to a 12-7 victory over No. 4 Colgate at Andy Kerr Stadium on Sunday.
*The Raiders led by one goal midway through the first quarter, but Eberhardt scored the following three goals to give the Mountain Hawks a lead they would never relinquish. She finished with four goals and one assist.  
*Carnevale scored three of her five goals, and senior attack Nora Giordano had three of her four assists in the first half.  
*Lehigh sophomore goalkeeper Hayley Hunt made 11 saves and allowed seven goals while picking up a team-high five ground balls.
*Colgate freshman midfielder Devon Maillet led six Raiders’ goal scorers with two goals in the loss. She also finished with four draw controls and one ground ball.
*Junior midfielder Cara O’Reilly finished with a game-high six draw controls, one goal and one ground ball.
