BALTIMORE - The sixth-seeded Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team got hat tricks from graduate students Elli Kluegel and Livy Rosenzweig, senior Jillian Wilson and freshman Georgia Latch, as the Greyhounds cruised to a 16-5 win over Mount St. Mary's in the first round of the NCAA Championships at Ridley Athletic Complex on Friday.

Latch and Rosenzweig led all players with five points each, with Rosenzweig, the first player in program history to record a 100-point season as a freshman in 2018, reaching 100 points for the third time throughout her career. With five points today she moved her season total to 103 points which stands third in Loyola's single-season top-10 records.

In addition to Latch and Rosenzweig's three goals and two assists, Kluegel and Wilson scored three times, with graduate student Sam Fiedler adding two goals and two assists for four points. Freshman Chase Boyle tacked on one goal and one assist, while senior Katie Detwiler – the Patriot League Defender of the Year – and sophomore Sydni Black rounded out the scoring with one goal each for the Greyhounds (19-1).

Rosenzweig and Wilson also became the first pair of teammates to each win 100 draw controls in a single season, as Rosenzweig's game-high eight wins moved her season total to 103. Wilson won three draw controls to move her season total to 120, which ranks third in Loyola's single-season records.

Defensively, Detwiler finished with three ground balls, while Boyle led all players with five caused turnovers. In goal, graduate student Kaitlyn Larsson stopped six shots.

Dani Donoghue led Mount St. Mary's (15-5) with two goals.

The Mount wasted no time getting the scoring started, finding the back of the net 18 seconds into play. It was all Greyhounds after that, though, as they rattled off the next seven-straight goals to take a 7-1 lead with 3:30 to play in the first quarter. Fiedler found Wilson for a goal on Loyola's first possession, before Rosenzweig and Latch found the back of the net. A give-and-go between Wilson and Boyle got Wilson her second goal, before Rosenzweig found Fiedler at the 6:41 mark for her 100th point of the season. Rosenzweig then converted a free position goal before Kluegel capped off the Greyhounds' seven goal run at 3:30.

Following the Mount's second goal, Kluegel put away consecutive goals within 23 seconds to secure a first-quarter hat trick, with all three goals coming within a span of 3:10.

Latch opened the second-quarter scoring with a worm burner before Mount St. Mary's scored on a free position goal to move the score to 10-3. Boyle then fired a pass from Latch into the back of the net before Wilson and Rosenzweig netted their third goals of the game to send Loyola into the break with a 13-3 advantage.

With the first goal of the second half, Latch recorded her seventh hat trick of the season, before Black got in on the scoring. Mount St. Mary's closed out the quarter with their first of the second half with 43.6 seconds on the clock.

The Mount scored the first goal of the fourth quarter at 10:34 before Detwiler's second collegiate goal with nine seconds to play closed out the scoring in the game.

With the win, the Greyhounds will advance to the NCAA Second Round to face the winner of tonight's first-round game between UConn and James Madison. The second-round game will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
