LOS ANGELES - Former Lafayette College baseball pitcher, David Bednar, has been named to the 2022 MLB All-Star Game and will represent the Pittsburgh Pirates and the National League in the midsummer classic.
Bednar has become one of the top relievers in baseball, carrying a 3.41 ERA with a career-high 15 saves across 41 innings.
The selection comes following Bednar's selection as National League Reliever of the Month in May when he had a 1.65 ERA with 21 strikeouts and only two walks in 16.1 innings.
During his time on College Hill, Bednar compiled 188 strikeouts to rank third on the all-time career strikeouts list in Lafayette baseball history. He had back-to-back 70-strikout seasons in his final two years with the Leopards, good for sixth on the single-season strikeouts list.
The 2022 MLB All-Star Game takes place July 19 at 7 p.m. ET from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and will air live on FOX.
