WASHINGTON – The Eagles are tourney bound! After capturing the program's 13th Patriot League Championship title on Saturday, the American University field hockey team is headed to third-seeded and No. 3 Duke for an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Friday, November 10 at noon.

The Eagles went undefeated in Patriot League play for the 11th time in program history en route to their 13th regular season and tournament titles. The Blue Devils went 16-4 overall and 5-1 in the ACC, falling 2-0 to No. 2 North Carolina in the ACC Championship game after shutting out Wake Forest and No. 10 Louisville in earlier rounds. Duke had a huge turnaround this season after going 0-6 in the ACC in 2022.

The winner of Friday's game will go on to face the winner of No. 6 Liberty vs. No. 12 Syracuse on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m., also in Durham.

The tournament consists of an 18-team field, with 10 spots going to automatic qualifiers and the remaining eight teams chosen at large by the NCAA selection committee. The opening round games will be played at two of the four first- and second-round host sites, with the semifinals and finals hosted by North Carolina.
