Navy Captures 2023 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Title (5.12.23)

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Navy women's rowing program captured its ninth Patriot League Women's Rowing title Friday after winning the Varsity Eight race and placing second in both the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four races to accumulate 51 points.

Boston University also finished with 51 points, but by virtue of the Mids’ win in the Varsity eight, the Terriers finished as the runner-up. BU placed second in the Varsity Eight Grand Final. The Terriers earned first place in both the Second Varsity Eight and the Varsity Four race.
 
Bucknell finished third with 38 points and Georgetown totaled 34 points in its return to the championship field to place fourth. MIT finished fifth in the final standings with 32 points, while Holy Cross finished with 24 points to finish sixth. Colgate (20), Lehigh (8) and Loyola Maryland (6) rounded out the nine-team championship field.
 
The Navy Varsity Eight was also named the 2023 Patriot League Women's Rowing Boat of the Year. The Mids’ head coach Joe Schlosberg was named the Patriot League Women's Rowing Coach of the Year for the third time after leading his squad to their ninth League title. The Mids claimed the Patriot League's automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Rowing Championship that will take place at Cherry Hill N.J. from May 26-28. The NCAA Selection Show will air on NCAA.com on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m.
