Patriot League Votes Campaign Launched by League SAAC During Voter Education Week

League student-athletes discuss the importance of education and participation in elections

BETHLEHEM, Pa.  – The Patriot League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in recognition of the 2024 Election, is committed to supporting their campus communities’ efforts to encourage registration, education and participation in the upcoming election.

“The Patriot League SAAC’s leadership across our campuses has truly demonstrated a commitment to ensuring student-athletes are engaged in this year’s election,” said Patriot League SAAC Chair Tyler Johnson, a Boston University men’s soccer student-athlete. “We believe in fostering leadership on and off the field, and this campaign reflects our dedication to civic engagement. By providing resources, from informational videos to voter guides, we are empowering our student-athletes to make informed decisions and lead within their communities. I am incredibly proud to be part of a League that stands behind the importance of voting and being informed on the issues.”

During National Voter Education Week (Oct. 7-11) and until Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5, SAAC members from Patriot League institutions will discuss the importance of civic engagement through the League’s social media platforms, including X, formerly known as Twitter (@PatriotLeague), and Instagram (@patriotleague).

Student-athletes will make their voices heard on topics ranging from the importance of voting, how they educate themselves on the issues, legislation and candidates, and encouraging teammates to vote.

The Patriot League will also unveil a video public-service announcement on its social media platforms, highlighting student-athletes speaking on the importance of making their voices heard through voting and civic engagement. Members of the League’s SAAC and the Patriot League staff developed a “Patriot League Votes” logo before creating and distributing logo stickers to League’s student-athletes.

The League’s official website – www.PatriotLeague.org – continues to feature a voter resource page, previously spearheaded by the League’s Anti-Racism Commission in 2020, with information through each step of the voting process. The Patriot League SAAC endorsed voting and civic engagement as a key strategic area of emphasis for the 2020-21 academic year and has continued to make those priorities for the League’s more than 5,200 student-athletes.

Among the available information on the Patriot League Voter Resources page include:
