BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Holy Cross’ First Varsity Eight+ garnered Patriot League Boat of the Week honors when the League announced the award on Wednesday. 

The MIT Second Varsity Eight+ boat received an honorable mention nod.

Race Notes 
*Battling 15MPH crosswinds and unfavorable conditions, Holy Cross earned an opening race victory with a winning time of 7:08.9 over Colgate and Smith.  
*The Crusaders later defeated Colgate again in an afternoon dual with a winning time of 7:22.2, besting the Raiders by nearly 10 seconds. 

Honorable Mention 
MIT Second Varsity Eight+ 
Regatta: Knecht Cup – Cherry Hill, N.J. / 2,000 meters 
*MIT won the second varsity eight+ race with a winning time of 6:54.79 at the Knecht Cup. The Engineers defeated second place UMass by four seconds to earn the programs first gold medal in this event.

PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP 
The 2024 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Championship will be held on Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. on Friday, May 17. Patriot League members Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, MIT and Navy will compete in the full-field championship, which features Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four Races. The winning team receives the Patriot League's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. The Navy Midshipmen are the defending Patriot League champions.
