Patriot League play reaches penultimate slate of regular-season games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Saturday features five Patriot League women’s lacrosse games on ESPN+ in the penultimate slate of regular-season League games.
 
No. 20 Navy travels to Lafayette top open the day's action at 11 a.m., with the Mids looking to clinch a quarterfinal-round bye.

No. 5 Loyola Maryland travels to Holy Cross for a noon draw on ESPN+ with the Greyhounds aiming to clinch a share of the Patriot League regular-season title and hosting duties for the 2024 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship.  Boston University also hosts American at noon.
 
A pair of League games begin at 1 p.m., with Bucknell welcoming Army West Point, and Lehigh traveling to Colgate for a chance to clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship.

*At No. 20 Navy 15, Lehigh 4 – Lola Leone scored a game-high five goals, and Tori DiCarlo registered five points on two goals and three assists in Navy’s 15-4 win vs. Lehigh. *At Army West Point 17, Holy Cross 16 Allison Reilly led the Black Knights with eight points on six goals and two assists as Army West Point held off a late Holy Cross run in a 17-16 victory to clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship. Alyce Smith added two goals, and Brigid Duffy posted one goal and three assists for the Black Knights. The Crusaders’ Isabella Miller finished with eight points on four goals and four assists, while Sally Zinsner added three goals and three assists for six points. BOX SCORE
*At Bucknell 14, Lafayette 13Bucknell’s Katie Browne scored the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining in regulation to lead the Bison to a 14-13 win over Lafayette. Megan Krestinski finished led Bucknell with six points on four goals and two assists, while Allie Boyce added four goals. Sara Rogers led the Leopards with three goals and two assists. BLACK AND BOYLE NAMED 2024 TEWAARATON NOMINEES
Loyola Maryland senior attack Sydni Black and junior midfielder Chase Boyle were selected among the 25 women’s nominees for the 2024 Tewaaraton Award. The Greyhounds are one of three programs, including Maryland and Syracuse to have multiple women’s nominees for the annual honor to recognize NCAA most outstanding men’s and women’s lacrosse players.
 
BOYLE LATEST LEAGUE PLAYER TO EARN IWLCA RECOGNITION
The Greyhounds’ Boyle won Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association DI Co-Offensive Player of the Week on April 16. She scored a career-high eight goals in a victory over then-No. 17 Princeton before adding three goals in Loyola Maryland’s League win over Boston University. She is the third Patriot League student-athlete to earn IWLCA national weekly honors.
 
Loyola Maryland junior goalkeeper Lauren Spence was the second Patriot League goalkeeper to earn IWLCA DI Defensive Player of the Week honors on March 12. She led the Greyhounds to wins against Georgetown (17-5) and Towson (16-3). The Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week posted a .824 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average to receive the honor. Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Tori Cini claimed IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week on March 5 after leading the Crusaders to their first win over UMass since 2009 with a career-high 17 saves. She faced 37 shots and allowed just 10 goals against the Minutewomen.

TWO LEAGUE TEAMS RANKED IN THE ILWOMEN/IWLCA POLL
Loyola Maryland and Navy remain in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll. The three-time defending Patriot League Champion Greyhounds climbed two spots to No. 5 after a 21-11 victory over then-No. 17 Princeton and an 18-7 win over Boston University. Navy is No. 20 after a 17-11 victory over rival Army West Point.

NCAA TOP 25 POINTS LEADERS LIST FEATURES EIGHT PATRIOT LEAGUERS
Holy Cross junior attack Isabella Miller leads the Patriot League, and ranks fourth in NCAA DI, averaging 5.79 points per game, with Army West Point sophomores Brigid Duffy (5.57) and Allison Reilly (5.50) following closely behind in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Loyola Maryland’s trio of Sydni Black (12th, 5.20), Chase Boyle (16th, 4.93) and Georgia Latch (16th, 4.93) all rank within NCAA DI’s top 20. Holy Cross senior attack Lauren Drillock and junior attack Sally Zinsner are tied for 22nd, averaging 4.86 points per game. 
 
SEVEN PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NCAA TOP-40 GOAL SCORERS
Loyola Maryland junior midfielder Chase Boyle leads the Patriot League and is fifth in NCAA DI with 4.13 goals per game, with teammate Sydni Black (3.80) ranking 14th. The Greyhounds boast the 13th-ranked scoring offense in NCAA DI with 15.60 goals per game. Army West Point sophomore midfielder Brigid Duffy is averaging 3.64 goals per game, good for 20th in NCAA DI, with sophomore teammate Allison Reilly ranking 37th with 3.21 goals per game. Navy junior midfielder Emily Messinese (3.53) and attacker Tori DiCarlo (3.23) are 25th and 40th in goals per game, respectively, to help Navy lead the Patriot League and 11th in NCAA DI in scoring offense (15.67). Holy Cross junior midfielder Sally Zinsner is 32nd in the nation with 3.36 goals per game.
 
LOYOLA MARYLAND AND NAVY ATOP SCORING MARGIN LEADERS LIST
Loyola Maryland and Navy have won convincingly throughout the 2024 season. The Greyhounds are seventh in NCAA DI in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 6.73 goals per game. Loyola Maryland boasts the top-scoring defense in the Patriot League and is No. 14 in NCAA DI, allowing just 8.87 goals per game, with seven of their 13 wins coming by 10 or more goals. The Midshipmen are eighth in NCAA DI in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by 6.53 goals per game. Navy is averaging 15.67 goals per game and is one of three Patriot League teams, including the Greyhounds, allowing 10 or fewer goals per game, holding opponents to 9.13 goals per game, good for 15th in NCAA DI. Lehigh is third in the League and 26th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing 10.00 goals per game. 
 
CRUSADERS’ MILLER AND DRILLOCK MAKE NCAA ASSISTS LEADER TOP 30
Holy Cross junior attack Isabella Miller leads the Patriot League and is fourth in NCAA DI with 3.36 assists per game. Miller broke the Crusaders’ single-season record earlier this season and now has 47 assists in 14 games. Drillock is 27th with 2.14 assists per game. The duo has helped a Crusaders’ squad that leads the Patriot League and is fourth in NCAA DI with 8.64 assists per game. Head coach Amanda Belichick’s team is third in the League and 23rd in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 14.29 goals per game.
 
Army West Point sophomore Allison Reilly is second in the Patriot League and 21st in NCAA DI with 2.29 assists per game.
 
TWO LEAGUE TEAMS AND FOUR LEAGUE PLAYERS AMONG NCAA DRAW CONTROL LEADERS
Loyola Maryland boasts NCAA DI’s best draw control percentage, winning draws at a .682 through 15 games. Navy is second in the nation and the League with a .680 draw control percentage.
 
The Greyhounds and Mids are paced by some of the nation’s leaders in draw controls per game. Loyola Maryland junior midfielder Chase Boyle leads the Patriot League and is fourth in the nation with 10.13 draw controls per game. Navy junior defender Alyssa Daley is fifth with 9.73 draw controls per game.
 
LEAGUE GOALKEEPERS RANK WITH NATION’S BEST IN MAJOR STAT CATEGORIES
Lehigh senior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt leads the Patriot League and is fifth in NCAA DI with a .500 save percentage to help the Mountain Hawks to a 7-6 record. Lafayette senior Lexie Coldiron is 15th among NCAA DI goalkeepers with a .477 save percentage. American junior Caleigh Forti is 27th at .458, while Holy Cross senior Tori Cini (.444) is 43rd in the nation. Loyola Maryland junior goalkeeper Lauren Spence (.436) is 47th in NCAA DI in save percentage.
 
Navy freshman goalkeeper Felicia Giglio is ninth in NCAA DI with an 8.71 goals-against average (GAA) in front of Loyola Maryland’s Spence, who is 14th with a 9.42 GAA. Lafayette’s Coldiron (10.86) and Lehigh’s Hunt (10.89) are 41st and 44th among GAA leaders, respectively.
 
FIVE PATRIOT LEAGUERS CLIMBING NCAA ACTIVE LEADERS LIST
Lehigh graduate student attack Gabby Schneider’s 139 career assists moved her into sole possession of fifth place in Patriot League history, while ranking seventh among NCAA DI active leaders. She also became the 33rd player in Patriot League history to eclipse 200 career points. Her 286 points are 10th among the Patriot League’s career leaders and seventh among NCAA DI active leaders. Loyola Maryland junior attack Georgia Latch is ninth in League history with 109 assists, ranking 19th among NCAA active leaders. Graduate student teammate Emma Eberhardt is 28th in League history with 93 assists, while Colgate’s Kyra Lucey (80) and Holy Cross’s Isabella Miller (73) are 41st and 49th among NCAA active assists leaders, respectively.

FIVE PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NCAA ACTIVE GOAL SCORERS
Loyola Maryland attack Sydni Black, the 2023 Patriot League Championship Most Valuable Player, is the Patriot League’s active goals leader with 159 during her decorated career. Her total ranks 34th among active players and tied for 25th in League history with former Greyhound Elli Kluegel and Colgate’s Kate Manzella. The Mountain Hawks’ Eberhardt (143) and Schneider (143) are tied for 43rd among NCAA DI active goal-scoring leaders. The Lehigh duo is tied for 36th in League history. Loyola Maryland’s Boyle, coming off an eight-goal performance vs. No. 17 Princeton, has 143 career goals to rank 48th among active NCAA DI student-athletes and 39th in Patriot League history.

LEHIGH’S HUNT AND LAFAYETTE’S COLDIRON RANK AMONG ACTIVE SAVES LEADERS
Lehigh senior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt eclipsed 500 career saves earlier this season and ranks fifth in NCAA DI with 539 in 59 career games. She climbed into the Patriot League’s top 15 career leaders during a loss vs. Navy on April 17. Lafayette’s Coldiron is 16th among active NCAA DI leaders with 460 saves in 47 games played. Hunt’s 131 ground balls rank 20th on the NCAA DI active leaders list, while Coldiron’s total of 120 ties her for 33rd on the list.
 
SIX PATRIOT LEAGUERS NAMED TO WOMEN’S DI MIDSEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAM
Loyola Maryland placed three women’s lacrosse student-athletes on the ILWomen DI Midseason All-America Team led by junior midfielder Chase Boyle, who received first-team accolades. Greyhounds’ attackers Sydni Black and Georgia Latch earned spots on the third team.
 
ILWomen selected three more League players as honorable mentions, including Navy junior Alyssa Daley, junior midfielder Emily Messinese and Army West Point sophomore midfielder Brigid Duffy.
