No. 1 Boston University and No. 3 Army West Point Advance to 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship Game (11.6.25)

Terriers handle Leopards; Black Knights edge Raiders to advance to Sunday’s title game

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Top-seeded Boston University (11-4-3, 7-1-1 PL) advanced to host No. 3 Army West Point (13-5-2, 5-3-1 PL) in the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship Game.

The Terriers and Black Knights will battle for the Patriot League title and an automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Nickerson Field.

No. 1 Boston University erupted for four second-half goals to defeat No. 5 Lafayette (5-8-7, 3-3-3 PL), 4-0, advancing to the title game for the second straight season.

The Black Knights used goals from 2025 Rookie of the Year Sophia Henry in the 44th minute and 2025 Offensive Player of the Year Brigid Duffy in the 88th minute to earn a 2-1 road victory over No. 2 Colgate (9-6-4, 6-2-1 PL).

Sunday’s 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship Game will be televised on CBS Sports Network at 12 p.m. with Jason Knapp and Lisa Carlin providing the call. The Patriot League’s multimedia journalist Paige Messier will be on the sideline.

BOSTON, Mass. – Top-seeded Boston University exploded with four second-half goals to defeat No. 5 Lafayette in the semifinal round of the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship on Thursday night at Nickerson Field. The Terriers return to the title game for the second consecutive season and eighth time overall.

*Boston University junior forward Ava McGuire broke open the scoring in the 56th minute before adding her second goal of the game and fourth of the season in the 70th minute to make it 2-0.
*Senior forward Margy Porta tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 68th minute and sophomore forward Juliana Osterman found the back of the net in the 87th minute.
*Senior midfielder and 2025 Midfielder of the Year Giulianna Gianino recorded three assists, increasing her League-leading total to 14, which sets a Boston University single-season program record.
*Sophomore midfielder Olivia Avellar, sophomore defender Alli Powderly and freshman midfielder Georgia Prouty each recorded an assist.
*Sophomore goalkeeper Bridget Carr made three saves to earn her seventh clean sheet of the season and Boston University’s ninth shutout.
*BU held the advantage in shots (16-11), shots on goals (11-3) and corner kicks (6-4).

HAMILTON, N.Y. – No. 3 Army West Point advanced to the championship game with a 2-1 win over No. 2 Colgate in the semifinal round of the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship on Thursday night at Beyer-Small ’76 Field.

*The Black Knights return to the title game for the first time since 2023 and the 14th time in program history.
*Freshman forward Sophia Henry put Army West Point ahead late in the first half with her 10th goal of the season in the 44th minute.
*Senior forward Brigid Duffy doubled the lead in the 88th minute with her 15th goal of the year, which ranks tied for sixth in NCAA Division I. The senior was credited with her eighth game-winning goal of the season, the most in the country.
*Colgate senior midfielder Ari Bezanson pulled the Raiders with one after scoring her 30th career goal with 33 seconds remaining in the match.
*Black Knights’ sophomore goalkeeper Karalyn Dail matched her season-high with eight saves, while Raiders’ junior goalkeeper Ella Poppinga made one save.
*Colgate finished with the edge in shots (15-13) and shots on goal (9-3), while Army West Point had more corner kicks (3-2).
