BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy women’s swimming and diving team owns the lead on the women’s side after day one of the 2025 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium. The Army West Point Black Knights are in first place on the men’s side with 120 points.
200-Yard Medley Relay
For the fourth straight season and 14th time in the last 15 years, Navy’s women’s team (Ela Habjan, Lauren Walsh, Caroline Irwin, Catherine Weaverling) captured the 200-yard medley relay title with a time of 1:39.17. Loyola Maryland’s Lily Mead, Avery Stimmel, Haley Robinson, and Charley Tulio finished as the runner-up with a time of 1:38.17. Army West Point’s Angie McKane, Catriona Gilmore, Sydney Braeger and Meghan Cole took third place with a time of 1:40.27.
The Greyhounds secured first place in the men’s 200-yard medley for the second straight year as the combination of Joe Hayburn, Brennan Coyle, Patrick Hayburn, and Caleb Kelly shattered the Patriot League record, the pool record and Loyola Maryland’s record with a time of 1:23.74. The Black Knights’ relay squad (Johnny Crush, Kohne Rankin, Daniel Verdolga, Owen Harlow) finished as the runner-up with a time of 1:24.19. Navy’s men’s 200-yard medley team comprised of Ben Irwin, Juan Mora, Lachlan Andrew and Simon Thompson finished third in 1:24.56.
3-Meter Diving
The Mids’ MacKenzie Kim took home the crown in the women’s three-meter diving with a score of 323.90, becoming the first Navy women’s diver to win the event since 2022. Army West Point’s Minh Donnell finished as the runner-up (308.30) and Bucknell’s Regina Frias placed third for the second straight year (271.20).
800-Yard Freestyle Relay
For the second straight year, the Army West Point women’s team finished first place in the 800-yard freestyle relay as the unit of Clara Williams, Jenna Hart, Kira MacMullan, and Molly Webber touched the wall in 7:15.17. Navy’s squad of Samantha Clifford, Allie Maloney, Erin Miller and Tiffany Shields placed second with a time of 7:17.64. Bucknell rounded out the podium with Virginia Hastings, Rylie Giles, Sydney Dettmann and Clara Renner leading the Bison with a time of 7:17.89.
The Black Knights concluded day one in record-breaking fashion as the quartet of Thomas Hadji, Jack Pogue, Johnny Crush, and Wes Tate clocked a Patriot League Championship record time of 6:18.62. Navy’s team of Everet Andrew, Dean Jones, Kellan Pattison, and Ben Stankovich placed second with a time of 6:23.22. Bucknell’s Riley Twiss, Damian Czartoryjski, Andy Dorsel, and Chris Kopac recorded a time of 6:30.18 to finish in third place.
