EASTON, Pa. Freshman guard Alex Chaikin scored a career-high 27 points to lead Lafayette to an 81-65 victory over Army West Point at Kirby Sports Center to split the season series.
*Chaikin hit 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and connected on 9-of-11 from the charity stripe for a Leopards’ squad that never trailed on their way to a second straight win.
*Lafayette senior center Justin Vander Baan recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He also registered team-highs of seven assists and four blocked shots.
*Junior forward Andrew Phillips added 14 points and eight boards, while freshman guard Caleb Williams chipped in 13 points and four assists for the Leopards.
*Army West Point senior forward AJ Allenspach led the Black Knights with his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
*Senior guard Jalen Rucker finished with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Black Knights.
*Sophomore guard Ryan Curry and freshman forward Jacen Holloway scored 10 points apiece for Army.
