Patriot League Announces Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (2.3.25)

Concepion, Daly, Davis, Pickering, and Ponzio receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell collected three of the five weekly awards, while Navy received two honors when the League office announced the men’s lacrosse awards on Monday.

Bucknell senior attack Connor Davis earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Bison to a 23-7 victory against Merrimack with a career-high eight goals.

Bison junior defender Will Pickering garnered Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week laurels following a four-ground-ball, three-caused-turnover performance.

Bucknell sophomore Ben Concepcion collected Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week honors after he went 13-for-17 in draws with four ground balls in the Bison’s 23-7 win over Merrimack.

Navy junior Dan Daly was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week after making 12 saves in the Midshipmen’s 14-10 win at High Point.

Midshipmen freshman midfielder Jack Ponzio earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors after registering a team-high four points in Navy’s victory.

Lafayette junior goalkeeper Joe Doherty, freshman midfielder Joseph Duggan, and senior attack Riley Sullivan; Loyola Maryland senior defender Remi Reynolds; Navy senior attack Carter Ash and sophomore defender AJ Marsh all collected honorable mentions for their performances last week.

The Patriot League men’s lacrosse players of the week were selected in a vote by League men’s lacrosse communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Connor Davis, Bucknell, Sr., A, Bethesda, Md./Bullis School
*Davis registered a career-high eight goals, along with an assist, in Bucknell’s 23-7 rout of Merrimack on Saturday.
*The senior scored four of his goals in the third quarter, when the Bison outscored the Warriors 9-0.
*The Bethesda, Md. native now has 116 career goals, which are the fourth-most in Bucknell history and 22 shy of Justin Zackey's school record that has stood since 1994.

*Pickering tallied four ground balls and three caused turnovers in Bucknell’s 23-7 win over Merrimack in the season opener on Saturday.
*The junior spearheaded a Bison defense that limited the Warriors to one second-half goal.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Ben Concepcion, Bucknell, So., FO, Roslindale, Mass./Dexter Southfield
*Concepcion won 13-of-17 (.764) draws with four ground balls, leading Bucknell to a 23-7 win over Merrimack in the season opener.
*The sophomore went 8-for-10 at the ‘X’ in the third quarter as the Bison went on to outscore Merrimack 9-0 in the period.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week
Dan Daly, Navy, Jr., GK, Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills
*Daly produced 12 saves, including six in the second quarter, and posted a .545 save percentage in Navy’s 14-10 win at High Point on Saturday.
*The junior was credited with an assist on AJ Marsh’s goal in the second quarter, which put the Midshipmen ahead 7-5, becoming the first Navy goalkeeper to be credited with an assist since March 28, 2021.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Jack Ponzio, Navy, Fr., M, Ronkonkoma, N.Y./St. Anthony’s
*In his collegiate debut, Ponzio tied for the team high with four points on two goals and two assists as Navy defeated High Point, 14-10, in the season opener on Saturday.
*The freshman scored twice on two shots and played a role in the Midshipmen’s first three goals.

*Doherty finished with 11 saves and a .579 save percentage in Lafayette’s season-opening victory over Air Force on Saturday.
*The junior added a team-high five ground balls and caused a turnover.

Joseph Duggan, Lafayette, Fr., M, Huntingtown, Md./Calvert Hall/Loomis Chaffee
*Duggan tallied a hat trick in his Lafayette debut and scooped up a ground ball, leading the Leopards to an 11-8 victory over Air Force on Saturday.

Riley Sullivan, Lafayette, Sr., A, Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity Catholic
*Sullivan led Lafayette to an 11-8 victory over Air Force on Saturday, as the senior recorded a hat trick, dished out an assist and picked up a team-high five ground balls.

Remi Reynolds, Loyola Maryland, Sr., D, Baltimore, Md./Gilman School
*Reynolds finished with three caused turnovers, two ground balls and an assist in Loyola Maryland’s loss against No. 11 Georgetown on Saturday. The senior connected on a pass with Matthew Minicus that resulted in a first-quarter goal.

Carter Ash, Navy, Sr., A, Leesburg, Va./Riverside
*Ash recorded his second career hat trick and added an assist to lead a balanced Navy offense in a 14-10 victory over High Point in the season opener.

AJ Marsh, Navy, So., D, Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School
*Marsh caused one turnover, picked up a pair of ground balls and orchestrated Navy’s defensive unit in the Midshipmen’s 14-10 win at High Point on Saturday.
