BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams are in action during the opening weekend of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse season, beginning with four teams playing on Friday.
No. 10 Loyola Maryland opens Friday’s action when they travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take on No. 1 Boston College at 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Three more teams start the 2025 season at 4 p.m., with American traveling down the road to take on Georgetown on FloSports. Colgate and first-year head coach Alyssa Guido host Monmouth on ESPN+. No. 18 Navy also opens the season at home, playing Saint Joseph’s on ESPN+.
On Saturday, two League teams play on ESPN+, with Army West Point hosting Big Ten opponent Rutgers at noon and Holy Cross traveling to Fairfield at 1 p.m. The following day, Boston University hosts the top-ranked Golden Eagles at noon on ESPN+.

Loyola Maryland Tops 2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll
Head coach Jen Adams and the Greyhounds received 161 points and 17 first-place votes to finish atop the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll. The Greyhounds have won 84 consecutive regular-season League games since joining the League for the 2014 season.
Navy placed second in the preseason poll with 145 points and the remaining three first-place votes after falling in the 2024 Patriot League title game to the Greyhounds. Army West Point received 130 points to finish third, while Holy Cross and the League’s reigning coach of the year, Amanda Belichick, ranked fourth in the poll with 112 points. Lehigh (87), American (74), Bucknell (68), Colgate (64), Boston University (35) and Lafayette (24) rounded out the 10-team preseason poll.
Greyhounds Sweep 2025 Preseason Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Major Award Winners
Loyola Maryland claimed all four preseason women’s lacrosse major awards, voted on by the League’s head coaches and women’s lacrosse communications directors. Senior attack Georgia Latch, a three-time first-team All-League selection, earned preseason attacker of the year. Senior midfielder Chase Boyle, the reigning midfielder of the year and Tewaaraton Award finalist, claimed the preseason accolade. Senior defender Lily Osborne, who earned the League’s defensive player of the year award at the conclusion of the 2024 season, collected the preseason honor, while senior goalkeeper Lauren Spence, the 2023 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, won preseason goalkeeper of the year honors.

Two Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams were ranked in the 2025 KANE Women’s Division I Preseason Poll. Five-time defending League champion Loyola Maryland was picked 10th after ranking 11th in last season’s final poll. The Greyhounds, who advanced to the 2024 NCAA DI Women’s Lacrosse Championship Second Round, were selected to finish atop the 2025 Patriot League Preseason Poll. Navy enters the 2025 season ranked No.18, having closed the 2024 season at No. 20 in the polls.

Eleven Patriot League Student-Athletes Earn USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America Honors
USA Lacrosse Magazine introduced its NCAA DI Women’s Preseason All-America honorees in January, with Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle and Army West Point’s Brigid Duffy receiving first-team honors. Greyhounds’ Georgia Latch, Navy’s Alyssa Daley and Emily Messinese earned a spot on the second team. Loyola Maryland’s Lily Osborne claimed third-team honors, while teammate Lauren Spence, Holy Cross’ Ella Kittredge and Isabela Miller, and Navy’s Tori DiCarlo and Ava Yovino received honorable mentions.

Navy’s Daley and Loyola Maryland’s Osborne earned spots on the second team, and Latch and Messinese collected third-team honors.

*Loyola Maryland’s Georgia Latch is No. 8 on the Patriot League career assists list with 122. She ranks No. 15 in career points (267) and No. 37 in goals (145).
*Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle checks in at No. 25 among the Patriot League goals leaders with 166 goals and No. 10 with 271 draw controls. Boyle set a League single-season record with 208 draw controls and tied for the second-best goal-scoring season in League history with 85 in 2024.
*Three players have eclipsed 100 career goals to rank among the League’s leaders: Navy’s Emily Messinese (55th, 122), Army West Point’s Brigid Duffy (62nd, 118) and Bucknell’s Allie Boyce (65th, 118).

Three League Position Groups Recognized by Inside Lacrosse as Among DI’s Best
Top Defensive Unit Rankings: No. 4 Loyola Maryland - The Greyhounds ranked fourth with a unit that returns the Patriot League’s Preseason Defensive Player and Goalkeeper in Osborne and Spence. Ellie Rhinehart and Cydney Lisk are also back after limiting opponents to 8.48 goals per game last season, finishing the season sixth in NCAA DI in scoring defense.

Top Midfield Unit Rankings: No. 5 Navy – The Mids return several starters, including Patriot League Rookie of the Year Mikayla Williams, who recorded 41 points, 48 draw controls and 30 ground balls in her first season in Annapolis. Maggie DeFabio and Caroline Gage return after starting each game last season, while the Mids will also be helped by the return of Ava Yovino, a 2023 Honorable Mention All-America honoree, who missed 2024 due to injury. Draw specialist Alyssa Daley also finished among the NCAA DI leaders with 191 draw controls last season.

Top Attack Unit Rankings: No. 4 Navy – Navy’s attack unit also ranks among the nation’s best with Emily Messinese (68g, 18a, 86p) and Tori DiCarlo (58g, 14a, 72p) back in the fold. The unit also features Kat McAteer and Lola Leone, who finished with 50 and 47 points, respectively, last season.

Alyssa Guido Ready to Lead Raiders Into New Chapter

Colgate named Alyssa Guido the head coach of the Raiders’ women’s lacrosse program in July 2024 after a successful three seasons as an assistant coach at Drexel. Guido is interviewed by Colgate’s Omar Ricardo Aquije ahead of her first season at the helm of the program.

Army’s Tumolo, Duffy and Reilly Earn Gold with U.S. National Team at U20 Women’s Lacrosse Championships
Army West Point women's lacrosse head coach Michelle Tumolo and juniors Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly earned a gold medal at the U20 World Lacrosse Championships after an undefeated run while representing the United States this past week in Hong Kong. Tumolo served as an assistant coach on the staff, while Reilly and Duffy earned spots on the 22-woman roster. Army was one of three programs to see multiple athletes make the coveted squad, joining Northwestern and Boston College.
Loyola Maryland Alum Sydni Black Named a NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 Honoree
Loyola Maryland women’s lacrosse graduate Sydni Black was named a 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 honoree. Black is the fifth Patriot League student-athlete to make the NCAA Top 30 list.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native concluded her collegiate playing career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Patriot League women’s lacrosse history. She was named 2024 Patriot League Attacker of the Year after leading the League and finishing sixth in NCAA DI with 106 points (76 goals, 30 assists). Black is a three-time All-League honoree and a two-time Patriot League Tournament MVP, helping the Greyhounds to four consecutive League titles. She ranks among the League’s career leaders in goals (178) and points (248), helping Loyola Maryland win an unprecedented 84 consecutive League contests.
Patriot Women’s Lacrosse on CBS Sports Network
The 2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game will be aired on Saturday, May 3, with live coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The regular-season rematch of the 2024 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game featuring Loyola Maryland at Navy is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 with live coverage beginning at 6 p.m.
